Theives looking up, but could be refined.

The damage thieves are doing from assassinate is very good when they hit well. Maybe there is a little to much of a window.

Talked about by Ste. When coverted the Thief should have the chance to assassinate completely. Even a dwarf fighter with 370+ hp. All or None, it either 1 hit kills, or misses completely.

Once again a new range of weapons. Every thief seems to have a Dagger of Spirits. Doesnt have to have a damage difference. Just different names. Variety as talked about before.
Maybe even a specialists blade, which is dipped in poison. Wouldnt do as much damage, but the poison would be very effective.

They should steal the whole pot of gold from a player or monster. This would also remedy the power training talked about by others.

sounds good to me.

the assassinate thing could be refined more than that, when you talk about that window i always think about how wide the variance of assassinate is, that may not be what your talking about though. however, for me it is too wide, with 21 str it goes as low as 100 and high as 350 in some areas. thats 250 of variance, which is roughly a lvl 28-30's amount of hp.

so how about when assassinating, when the server has determined your hitting around the best of your ability there could be an added chance of just finishing the opponent regardless of how much hp they have. so if your opponent has 350 hp and you hit near your max like around 290, you could pretty much flip a coin to decide your opponents fate.

of course in addition to this you should probably also be within 2 lvls of your opponent also, otherwise a horde of lvl 5 thieves could go around "getting lucky" and defeat the purpose of training.

i figure youd have to hit withing 10 hp of your max to trigger this extra ability. it shouldnt be too much of a power up considering the ability your using is assassinate and no matter how big or small you are you still have a jugular and a thief still has a dagger, and when your skills are roughly equivalent to your opponent's you should be able to succeed regardless of how much surface area the guy may have. i mean we aren't burning people to death here, we're sticking a pointy blade into critical organs and such.

So what your saying is, if the enemy has 350 hp and you do 290, you can finish him off before he attacks in a 50/50 chance?

no it wouldnt even come up as 290. when you click to assassinate the guy, the server will do the math and if your assassinate is rolled to within 10 hp of it's maximum possible there would be one more roll giving you a 50/50 chance of assassinating him regardless of his hp, then the actual hit comes.

so it will look like this.

thief: ima click you!
guy: hahah im big and strong!
thief: i am cunning! and fast!
/assassinate guy
You assassinated guy.
guy pages you from 'a state of denial': dude i had like 330 hp!
You page 'guy': i am cunning! and fast!

edit:i dont know what part of my brain insists putting gs on the end of words.

I'd like to see a steal item command.  It was talked about pre-reset as being implemented.

Stealing would be cool, but not with alts..
Other wise ppl would make 5lv30 thieves and everyone else will run around naked.

Or thief will be in a party full of healers so you try to get your stuff back they just heal and run off with your stuff.

How about just stealing things from inventory, then it could be random what they steal, and more likely chance of being noticed.

How about thieves only having 5 stamina, they are supposed to be the most agile and make up for lack of power in quickness and agility. Thieves having a 6th stamina would make up for low physical attacks.

Also, a % to 1 hit KO a character shouldnt just be a thief thing, there should always be a chance for a level 5 newb to hit and kill an archmaster, nearly impossible chance, but still a chance.

Thieves do not need a 6th stamina. I know a lot of people have been saying they do but that would be highly unfair, Here’s why. Every class can do something no other class can, ok? The 6th stamina is the fighter’s special thing.

How about they give fighters some more abilities that can make the have that difference factor, so thieves could have the 6th stamina.  It doesn'y make any sense to me why the big, slow hitters are the ones to have the most stamina, you would think they would get tired faster from carrying all the armor and heavy weapons.

yeah, to actually think about it, 6 stamina would be a little to much..
And as to stealing only inventory thats good idea.

Someone gets a nice little cr from cg thief hiding in there the whole time, steals the cr and runs away heh, that would be so awsome.

Or just sitting around outside thief pops up steals a pot or 2 runs away lol.

6 stamina is bad idea. there's better ways to address the same problem without stealing a fighter ability. look back to earlier posts of mine in this topic, the result is the same but the delivery is different and much more fair. rangers cant one click everyone too but they dont need more stamina either. as for stealing items it would just be abused right off the bat, thieves would always sit in wait around bosses to try and rob the drop from them, and since there are no reprecaussions for stealing it would probably wind up being a pain for everyone, thieves included.
