Sentry Spider until level 10. Powertrain to level 21. Swamps to level 25. Powertrain to 30 or use a DotW somewhere nice.

Nightmist arena till lvl 5 Power Train till lvl 18+ Desert till lvl 30 I'd say power train to 20 but it gets boring and I prefere to train other crits too and make gold . . . so its upto you how high you train via power training (it is the best and easiest way to train thieves but boring)

this is how i do it. lvls 1-6: the small snake outside of town. lvls 6-15: powertraining off of a small snake in a semi-remote area outside of nightmist. i use 30k at first and usually use 50k around the end of it. i don't use a dummy crit to get the gold into the monster at this point. the amount of exp you lose when you die is still much smaller than they amount of exp that you gain from one steal. 16-21: same place, a little more gold. i usually use a dummy crit (also a thief)to carry gold to the monster at this point because the exp is starting to make a difference and your crit should be stealing more gold, and surviving a lot better when the monster attacks it so it shouldn't cost too much in pots and you'll get exp faster still. 21-30: this is really the hard part. you should move to a much more remote location in NM for this leg of the journey. it took me awhile but i found the perfect place. i'd suggest some heavy scouting before setting up somewhere. this part of the training doesn't require you to go back to town so much or stop to level up so often. 21-24 should only take a couple hours but after that it'll take much longer and you should have secure place with a system worked to deliver your dummy alt to the training spot without much effort. i'd recommend training close to the pub in an unpopular town but keeping 'watch alts' online to stay aware of other activities in the area. around lvl 26 you should no longer be spotted stealing all that much and should only have to look on that crit when hitting the steal macro, all your other time should be spent checking the watch alts and moving your dummy crit to the training spot. another note: make your watch alts thieves also. keep them covert. no one should see you. just follow that routine until you feel like stopping, then repeat until you're 30. there are a few other things. since you need your dummy crit to die at the hands of the monster you're stealing from, your dummy crit will spawn in the pub and it will say what killed it. anyone sitting in the pub will be able to deduce what you're doing. this has happened to me a lot and i usually feign newbness since my dummy crit is always a lvl 1 with 8 con. most of the time it works out and i'm offered rides to the next town or given some cash monies for equipment but if your dummy alt is spotted, you should clean out the monster your stealing from while your dummy alt simulatneously delays anyone from putting 2 and 2 together and acting on it. you should be able to prevent this by keeping an eye on your watch alts but if someone does run by killing everything in thier path and they come to you - steal. most of the time you'll only have 3 stamina and it won't be enough to kill the monster but depending on how much is on the monster you can recoup up 75% of your gold with 3 stamina. if it's a choice between losing it all or keeping at all or stealing three times, i would choose to steal 3 times because the first few steals can be worth more than the following 10. anyhow, that's the way i do it. i've had a fair amount of success too. it's not exactly easier and in some ways it's more difficult than training conventionally but in the end you'll only spend a little over two days game time training.

You see, I don't get it. How do you power-train a low level to like level 20 or whatever, when you keep getting spotted.. The amount of gold you gain you also lose when ur sent to a pub..

Use your thieves and a cleric and train in the swamps with a torch, from what I've heard that gives good exp.

phenom, when you're a low level and powertraining, all you have to do is come back to where you were and pick up where you left off. at lvl 20 you shouldn't let yourself die that way if you can avoid it, though.

I personally don't power train at all. The stupid "exp of stealing 2k" thing. I like the swamps myself.

Swamps are a bit easier and less boring, but power-training, for a n00b, is a great way to learn the subtleties of the game, controlling different crits in different areas of the game etc. (me being the n00b by the way ) Hugh

| Power-training is GREAT experience, even if you're not a noob. 2k+ steal = 10k exp.. I got my halfling from 24 to 25 in like a day, lol
