Im thinking adding weather to Nightmist would be cool. I'm thinking weather in nightmist was available hp and stats ailments, may accure in some regions. For example maybe having a status ailment of catching a "cold" or "flu" may reduce hp much like poison does or somewhere along those lines. And the weather could also add a cool effect for casting spells buy increasing the chance not to "fizzling" out as much or increasing the chance of "Fizzling" out...or maybe some weathers could make "fizzling" impossible in some regois a certain times. Example: Maybe while raining casting spells is harder or while is sunny is easier. And the addition of adding weather could produce new spells. Such as (Downpour) Effect: Make casting spells harder on you opponent by 5% for 30 seconds, (increasing the chance of Fizzling by 5% on your opponent). Or the spell (Sunshine)Effect: make casting spells easier by 5% for your self for 30 seconds, (decreasing the chance to fizzle on your self by 5%) Thats kind of my "main idea" so far as of how cool it would be to have weatheron Nightmist. Please reply on any sugestions or comments.

Personally, I just want weather in. I don't even care about bonuses anymore. I just want to have a message appearing saying something like:

You feel a little drizzle on your face. It has begun to rain.

(Yes, I know Stotic started a topic like this a while ago. I'm just lazy to find it.)

i'm probably crazy but i'd love to see rain cause rust, or cause wood to rot. hell, the weather could affect hit/miss ratios, like in torrential rain or dust storms. we do have a desert.

Yeah you guys are right it would take a while to complete the different areas and different types of weather but just think of the cool outcomes i mean like adding magic power or like ive read on another post fog could help thieves covert and clear weather could help rangers hit better. and it would be pretty cool to see it sow in place during Christmas and other holidays, etc

Im also thinking that weather or cosmic power could have an effect on on pacifists dieties NOT negativley but...heres what im thinking. Maybe every summer and winter eclepse the pafist dieties could go off kilter and cover all players to cuase a "Nopk Day" that way people wont die all die by players while thier training and it would also work great with Double Exp Day. Just think Nopk and Double Exp all in one day. And maybe some weather types could have effects on creatures like maybe rain could give a disadvatage to undead but a power boost to water give on and off type day to go places. Same goes for spells Fireball may do less damage in rail but but in sunny weather.

That would be funny for the pacis deitys to go a bit haywire and protect all the other classes, but it would have to make it so the paci wouldnt be protected. Just 1 time outta the year. I would lmao if this was to happen lol.

that's a long term thing that is already noted

By long term, do you mean that time and weather and all those other good things will happen all at once? Or will weather but put in then some kind of in-game clock? =\

no not all at once. Weather i think should differ by regions and change over time(rain a bit one day and sunny the text) something like that. But no not same weather everywhere at once.

I would guess that depending on the type of terrain and location, the weather patterns will be very different or be completely non-existant. For example, you will not get any weather underground, mountains will more likely have cold winds and snow, and the desert is unlikely to have anything other than unbearable, dry heat.

no

edit: AAA!! MY brother made a lame attempt at being funny.

Anyway, since I wanted to post on this anyway:

I think that weather would be a great idea. Perhaps times of the day too? Some areas could have a different decription for different times of the day/different weather? Some monsters could only appear in certain weather or time of the day.

On the subject of bonuses, thieves could probably work better in darker weather, shock would probably work better when the air was more wet. Flame couldn't work in rain. Beam would be pathetic in the dark, but work much better in sunlight.

Edit2:

Sorry, I didn't read alot of the above posts. Most of what I said was in there.

Beam would be pathetic in the dark, but work much better in sunlight.

I agree with most of those little extras, except for the one I've quoted. Imo Beam at night would cane way more than in daylight. Extreme light being fired at you out of complete darkness would suck way more than when your eyes were already adjusted for the light of the sun. It like when your in bed and the lights out, and your brother turns on the light and you scream 'I'M BLIND! I'M BLIND!' as you shield your eyes.

What's the description for beam again.

If the power doesn't come from the sun than I totally agree with you, if not, nope.

Ooooh! Another idea I just thought of to post on the mage forum.

By focusing magical energy into a beam of light, an experienced mage can deliver incredible amounts of damage on an unsuspecting foe. Though due to the extreme focus and concentration required to perform this spell, much practice and training is necessary for a mage to enlist the use of this powerful beam.

Beam doesn't have anything to do with the sun, it's just a burst of pure energy/light.

I'm going to agree with Deval in saying that beam would hurt more in the complete darkness (because you're an "unsuspecting foe").
