I thought I'd give this its own topic, since people seem to think it's a good idea to get people exploring etc.


The deal is that every day at midnight server time, the Ring of Power is automatically removed from whoever currently has it, and is placed on a random square somewhere in the world. Could be anywhere. Everyone then has to go and search for it, and the lucky winner gets to keep it until the following day.



Library info for Ring of Power:
Armor base: 9, Can be worn by: clerics, druids, fighters, mages, paladins, rangers, thieves, pacifists, Description: The Ring of Power is without equal. It literally crackles with energy, so great are the enchantments laid upon it by the host of the heavens. Men and women of every tribe and race have spent their lives to seek this ring, for its power is not easily acquired., Level needed to equip it: 30, Strength modifier: 1, Intelligence modifier: 1, Dexterity modifier: 1, Constitution modifier: 1, Wisdom modifier: 1, Charisma modifier: 1.

i want to say WTF CHILL WITH THE STAT MODS but i get why you've put them on, as it'll stay with the same person for a day..

just add it as a drop to a random monster once a day....

I think getting it just to spawn on a random square would be easier to code. But who knows really.

i agree, but not the carry over if no one finds it.

Only if it just spawned every day, so you can happen to find it, but its not like cirtain other weekly questies where you get to keep it forever because no one bothers any more lol

yeah, obviously if no one finds it it gets deleted and moved to another place next midnight.

This sounds novel and I kinda like it. I would make lvl requirement low though(lvl 10ish) just to make it fair for anyone who finds it to wear it.

i remember racing to get a crit to 25 just so i could enter triplex; this would encourage people to train so they get a chance at having the ring

Naw if you del crits, you lose them for 3 days....

If you did it with the ring on - it would simply get delated at midnight again as soon as you restore it.

Unless you sit and deleate it all the time... bit pointless then lol

you wouldn't have to restore the crit after you deleted it though

The whole point of deleting is to get the ring on the sly

You don't have to worry about that kind of stuff because nothing of the sort is coming into the game.
Yes, deleting would work, and staff would have to try to keep a grid search type of function on. I do not think we can search the equipment on characters as a whole server---so JLH would have to find it.
Obviously, not an option. So deleting characters to keep items may work if the item wasn't spotted or put into a vault.

I'm not sure if other sysops can view that stuff though.
