Ok so I thought it would be cool to have options at a certain stage (say lvl 30) of what you want to specialise in. Read on, you'll see:

Thief

Way of the Thief - +10% gold dropped from monsters
Way of the Assassin - +10% assassinate damage


Ranger

Way of the Night - Camouflage ability
Way of the Bow - Critical Shot ability (1 hit armor-piercing, similar to assassinate)


Fighter

Way of the Self - Meditation ability - For level*2.5 seconds will hit, block and resist magic more often
Way of the Brute - +3 Strength


Berserker

Way of Bloodlust - 2 consecutive successful hits will only drain 1 stamina when using berserk
Way of Self-Control - Smite loses 0hp; Berserk loses 10hp


Paladin

Way of the Healer - Gives Cleric Aid
Way of Belief - +10% hit chance and damage


Cleric

Way of Divinity - Awe spell - cast on a monster to stop it hitting you
Way of Grace - all spell mana costs halved


Druid

Way of the Animal - Morph lasts 15 minutes
Way of the Caster - +5% spell damage


Mage

Way of Evil - Vampiric ability - can leech hp back from monsters
Way of the Outcast - +15% spell damage, -15% mana cost for spells, cannot join party


Personally I think the last one is genius

While I like the idea of specialization, there is no chance that we'll get JLH to implement something this extensive.

If you're serious about this, try reframing everything as equipment. It can be level limited (31+) and you can offer options by making two different items that occupy the same equipment slot but have different bonuses. Of course, you're limited to abilities that items can have, but there's no other way something like this would get done.

Awesome as always, but no one around to do the work.

Also, the thief thing is basically the same thing. 10% more damage on monsters means you kill monsters faster, which calculates in exactly the same gold as the "Thief" one. Only the assassin gets more exp and it is usefull in pking as well.

well it would have to stay on "the way" of the pacifist..otherwise it would be an antagonist? so they dont get one :ph34r: lol

Very nice idea and would be cool for something like this to be added. But like already stated will never happen. Would require to much work from JLH.

1. thief one doesnt work out exactly the same, but yeah maybe drop option 2 to +5% damage.

2. pacifist, lol. feel free to suggest something...

3. give me the source code for nm and i will code it up for you in a couple of days :ph34r:

4. i also thought it would be nice to have more than two options, but i ran out of ideas

5. it doesn't really work as equipment - i wanted it to be a one-off decision that stays with the crit and is unchangeable

- I've seen small snippets of JLH's source code... *shivers*... it won't be a 2-day job!

- Not sure about thieves, as everyone uses them to Assassinate things, but I can't think of much else.

- Pacifists... well, unfortunately, the server being non-PK limits options a bit, but otherwise I would have had the Way of the Protector (Improved Salve and Shield Self and the like) and the Way of the Light (Improved Subdue and Depurate Undead)... I can't think of a better name at the moment.

think the thief one could be lowered to like 3% seeing as you are getting more stam aswell.

Get it in somehow, Nightmist needs some special stuff to make it more attractive. Making characters more specialised to the user will make different playing styles which means more fun ;)

Way of Belief - +10% hit chance and damage - Should be a lvl 30+ spell that lasts for 10 mins


Cleric
Way of Divinity - Awe spell - cast on a monster to stop it hitting you - noty
Way of Grace - all spell mana costs halved - Would love it. Would make lvling a cleric even easier. For that reason, noty. Even though id love it myself lol


Druid
Way of the Animal - Morph lasts 15 minutes - yawn, morph lasts too long as it is. Unless you could cast blessing while morphed. ++ for that
Way of the Caster - +5% spell damage - lol wouldnt do alot rly. Maybe a Holy Might with low stat mods. +2 str + 2 dex.


Mage
Way of Evil - Vampiric ability - can leech hp back from monsters - like .1 - .2 then supported. Any higher, is crazy talk!
Way of the Outcast - +15% spell damage, -15% mana cost for spells, cannot join party - Dont like the non party joining thing. but is good. ++

On a serious note, I like the way of the outcast. . . Sort of a renegade mage for the roleplaying aspect. . . A loner, yet more powerful than other magi.
