You feel a little drizzle on your face. It has begun to rain.
(Yes, I know Stotic started a topic like this a while ago. I'm just lazy to find it.)

that's a long term thing that is already noted
By long term, do you mean that time and weather and all those other good things will happen all at once? Or will weather but put in then some kind of in-game clock? =\

edit: AAA!! MY brother made a lame attempt at being funny.
Anyway, since I wanted to post on this anyway:
I think that weather would be a great idea. Perhaps times of the day too? Some areas could have a different decription for different times of the day/different weather? Some monsters could only appear in certain weather or time of the day.
On the subject of bonuses, thieves could probably work better in darker weather, shock would probably work better when the air was more wet. Flame couldn't work in rain. Beam would be pathetic in the dark, but work much better in sunlight.
Edit2:
Sorry, I didn't read alot of the above posts. Most of what I said was in there.

I agree with most of those little extras, except for the one I've quoted. Imo Beam at night would cane way more than in daylight. Extreme light being fired at you out of complete darkness would suck way more than when your eyes were already adjusted for the light of the sun. It like when your in bed and the lights out, and your brother turns on the light and you scream 'I'M BLIND! I'M BLIND!' as you shield your eyes.Beam would be pathetic in the dark, but work much better in sunlight.

If the power doesn't come from the sun than I totally agree with you, if not, nope.
Ooooh! Another idea I just thought of to post on the mage forum.

By focusing magical energy into a beam of light, an experienced mage can deliver incredible amounts of damage on an unsuspecting foe. Though due to the extreme focus and concentration required to perform this spell, much practice and training is necessary for a mage to enlist the use of this powerful beam.
Beam doesn't have anything to do with the sun, it's just a burst of pure energy/light.
I'm going to agree with Deval in saying that beam would hurt more in the complete darkness (because you're an "unsuspecting foe").
