Now that I have been fighting with the offline mapper for a few days I am wondering, do you staffers use that thing to make new areas, or do you make them ingame square to square? Cuz I think that offline mapper is a mean biznitch...lol... I'll keep fighting with it though...

Im old fashioned, I do my areas square by square adding each little detail as I go. Never even looked at the offline developer, I was around long before it was so it would probably just confuse me.

i was still in the process of finishing off my first area in the offline dev. when i was hired for staff, and by adding my area square by square like Medora also does, i got it done in a week.. I never finished it in the offline developer lol. I see it as a good way to learn grid commands, but that's about it.. i think most of us prefer not to use it.

Thanks Tienno. I'm glad to hear that most staff prefer to do square by square and don't like the offline mapper too much, cuz I was beginning to think I'm stupid or something...lol.. I think what I dislike about it most is the short text fields for the grids. It makes it kind of hard to recheck if you spelled it all right, something I like doing, since my keyboard sometimes just plain refuses to acknowlege me pushing certain keys.

NIghtmist website, FTP section... and the thing is an evil bish that hates me! You mark your square on the thingy and put in all the grid commands in the lil text boxes. Then you have to save each square before heading off to the next one (which I forget quite frequently so far). You can copy grid commands from one square to another, too, which supposedly makes it easier (that is, until you realize the square you copied out of has a spelling mistake, and now so do all others...lol). Is there ANYONE out there who has yet won the fight with this monstrosity?
