Perhaps a new attack could be something that would use darts. I was thinking something along the lines of a dart that could temporarily paralyze a character. This wouldn't necessarily uncovert you. It would just pin the character hit by the dart to that square for a period of time. Maybe the equivalent of one stamina round. The pinned player would still be allowed to attack. Just an idea.

Thieves aren't the only people that would be able to use darts.

I was thinking of it as more of an ability rather than an item. Somewhat like assassinate actually. It could deal some damage (minimal to moderate, but couldn't kill someone right off).

Actually I think this is a great idea!! Darts shouldn't be able to be used by other classes other than theives because fighters are just fighters. Since when would a cleric be using darts? Mages? Why would they need a stupid dart? Rangers maybe, but they're more of an arrow type. Theives, Of course!!! Theives are, in my opinion, VERY underpowered. Darts could be an interesting 'ability' to add, it would have maybe a 15% chance of uncoverting the theif, depending of the intell of the target. This could allow theives to stay in the shadows and throw paralysing darts at passer-bys, and then 'since they can't move' assassinate them! This would make theives the #1 pk class which fits them, as they are..... theives!!!

Thieves don't need many more powerful abilities, they need creative and distinct abilities that play a strategic role.

Darts wouldn't be powerful!!! They would just give theives a chance to use their heads and plan attacks strategically instead of saying 'well I want to kill so-and-so' oh I know!! I'll assassinate him! Instead they could say, hmm, ' I'll paralyse him with my dart, and then hit him with my poisoned dagger once (I think poison should be ALOT more effective) then i'll covert, keep paralysing him with my darts, until the posion damages him enough so that I can assassinate him in 1 try!

darts. well poison darts are completely pointless since thatll just slight injure someone and theyll run off. bad offense. paralyzing is just to much power for a class, even if cleanse would cure it. darts that could make a person something similar to drunk would be fine, or something similar to hypno would be ok. another thing you could put in darts could be like stupidity; just knock wisdom down a few points for a minute.

Okay, just have it an ability that hurts people, but no message alerts them that they are being attacked and can be done under covert. Depening on the players' skill somtimes the person being attacked would notice. How does that sound?

| The darts could paralyze a character, not allowing them to move for a moment or two. They don't necessarily need to cause damage. Isn't that a bit strategic? If a dart paralyzes using one stam (with a certain miss %) then the thief could quickly attempt to assassinate them.

Druids have vines. Why not dare to dream? If a druid can stop an entire party, why is it so impossible to imagine a thief stopping one person? And even if a thief was successful with a one stamina hit, that would leave them down one stamina on their assassinate, decreasing the amount of damage inflicted if they chose to do so. This could be an escape tactic even. Its not necessarily a pre-emptive strike. It's just an idea. Dwell on it, alter it as needed. The darts don't need to have a paralyzing affect. They could be poisoned or some other status ailment.

| i think you would notice if you suddenly had a dart sticking out of your neck. also, paralyzing is too much.....but perhaps something like a tranquilizer...you wouldnt just get paralized right away, you would slow down quite a bit though....say like 30% of stamina.

paralyzing is a bit much because well, its paralyzing. you dont fight back against being paralyzed. but darts that can make people disoriented, stupid(lower wis), lower dex, disintegrate armor(lower armor rating), etc. it would be more strategic than overpowering.
