Deciding to attend the ball, you get dressed and head for Thorn Manor in Blackthorn. Upon arrival, your horse and/or carriage are tended to by the stable hands as you are escorted to the large oak doors, leading into the manor. You are led down the eastern hallway and into an elegantly decorated ballroom.

As you step in, your breath is halted for a moment at the site before you. A stage is ornately decorated in a oragne and black streamers with a group of masked individuals armed with instruments. To your amusement, a ornately dressed witch is singing the lead vocal. Continuing to look around, you notice the punch bowl near the snacks table seems to contain some form of misting liquid of a putrid, green color, yet people seem to be enjoying the taste. The walls are decorated with fake spider webs as well as ghoulish pictures and drawings. As you look up for a moment, you're forced to gasp for a breath at the site. A man seems to be dangling from the chandelier from a rope the grips him around his throat. While the figure seems realistic and lifeless, your reason tells you that the chandelier could not hold such a weight, therefore this too, must be a part of the decor.

You are greeted by the doorman, who is dressed as a deformed hunchback and craddling a black cat in his arms, stroking it gently and affectionately.  "Good eve to ye sir/madam, come and join the ranks of our gathering of the creatures of the night. Come and have some of the nector of the living and enjoy your time." While his statement seems eery, the jest in his voice can easily be detected and you step in to grace these halls with your presence.

Standing in the corner, dressed in a black and white tux, with a long flowing black cape, lined in crimson velvet, stands a figure that can barely be discerned through the pale make-up making his skin appear lifeless, and the false fangs, and splattered fake blood running down his chin, is the Guildmaster of the Thorns.  He stands in a small group holding a cup of red wine as the group converses amongst themselves.

((OOC: The scene is set... make your appearance and there's only two rules... 1. Have Fun with this! and 2. Keep it clean.))

She was one with a bit of magic. Born of two powerful weilders of elemental and mental forms of magic, she appeared just outside the door in a swirling of light blue flames. As the flames discipated all that would bee see is a small cloaked figure.

Slowly she walked towards the door thinking much to herself. Craftily she slipped past the doorman. Supressing her laughter she stands there but only a scant second. As the doors parted the set scene of elegant decor brings a slight smile upon the woman's lips. She walked the all to familiar hallway letting the almost euphoric sense of the past overwhelm her senses. Her fingers trailing over a wall where some carvings still remain and gives a little laugh,"some things never change."

Walking purposefully towards the shadows, she lets them encompass her form. Hidden for now to just watch and observe. Something she was always good at doing. Watching and hovering ever near  with a curious and patient eye to detail. Silently she saw the members of the Thorn clan bustling about setting things up, preparing food, making sure everything is in it's place. Thinking and saying to herself in the inaudible tones.

"Lokey never changes.... always mr perfectionist." She settles up against the wall  for now simple just watching on

Lokey finishes his drink and then takes one last look around the Ballroom to esure everything is in place. Satisfied that everything has been tended to appropriately, he moves toward one of the waiters and takes another glass of the putrid green liquid that seems to bubble and brew of it's own accord. Lokey smirks and thinks that this little addition that Sau_Ron has made to the punch was a nice touch.

A guard approaches Lokey with a look a sheer panic on his face, "My Lord, we have a problem. One of the guards swears that he heard the front door click shut, but no one is reported to have entered and the doorman hasn't seen anyone. We have an intruder." Disturbed by this news, Lokey turns as three other guards take position to protect the Guildmaster, much to his disgust. Lokey hands off his drink and starts to untie the cloak of his costume as a faint but familiar scent of Raspberries seems to dance upon a gentle breeze.

Lokey smirks slightly as he relaxes a bit and offers his instruction to the guards, "Stand down. I believe this 'Intruder' is actually a guest. Whisper? Must you torment my guards in this manner? Please, do show yourself so that an old friend may greet ye propperly."

She stood there not overly suprised. Remaining within the shadows but a moment longer, she moved into the light behind Lokey. A pale delicate hand extends and comes to rest upon his shoulder. Turning him to face her, the little face turns up into a playful smile. "Now why would I wish to do a thing like that. Shadows are so fun to play within.  Remember our days in the Lost Pub?"

Before lokey stood a petite elven looking woman about 25 years of age. Thought many knew this was just a willing of time and her own power. Lavender eyes penatrated his gaze as she smiled upon him. ,"Miss me yet?" her voice remaining the teasing caressing tones. She made no pretense though as to whom and what she was as she faced her old friend. Having missed him since she went away to be with one that cared for. Her past and thoughts strayed to the family she'd left behind sometimes.

Her hands slip from his shoulders and brush at invisible dust upon her black velvetine cloak and gown. Using this time to try to get her thoughts back to herself. It felt odd standing within the halls that she'd helped build. And yet it also felt like a mother's hug after a long trip away, an embrace into the familiar and welcome.

Satisfied that there was nothing upon her gown she slipped a hand within one of her golden silken tendrils of hair and curled it around her finger. It was then the lavender eyes slipped from the cool nature to that of almost deadly seriousness. "After the ball we need to have words." Her smile almost fell as she now waited on his response before entering the ballroom and gardens. Making a mental note to check on her roses that she'd left behind.

Lokey smirks slightly as he feels Whisper grip his should and turns as she gently tugs him to face her. A smile of joy parts his lips as he sees his long time friend once again standing in the hallowed halls of Thorn Manor.

"Of course I've missed ye Whisper. And how could I nae remember the days of long ago within the Lost Pub. I remember quite well that ye started a great deal of chaos there in which I had to clear up." Lokey smirks knowing that he caused just as much, but refuses to admit to it.

Lokey notes her seriousness and it causes him to wonder what trouble plagues the mind of friend. He carefully watches her for any signs as to what is wrong before speaking, "I trust all is well Whisper? We shall set aside time to converse on these issues and hopefully we can put your mind to rest as to what is bothering ye. But let us set this aside for now. Come let me introduce your arrival to the ball. The festivities will begin shortly."

Lokey turns and leads Whisper through the doors leading into the ballroom and gardens area where the family of the Thorns have already began to gather. Speaking in a loud voice, he introduces Whisper's arrival, "Fellow Thorns, may I introduce to ye, Lady Whisper, former and one of the founding members of this beloved family." Turning to Whispers he continues to speak where he can be heard, "Welcome home my friend, come and enjoy our hospitality. For some time ye served this family, now that ye are our guest, let us serve ye."

Lokey turns back towards the audiance, "There are a few more guests who will be arriving shortly. The festivities will commence at sunset. Until then, the band will continue to play softly and we all can enjoy the food and fellowship."  Lokey moves on deeper into the room as thoughts concerning who all will show for this event begins to echo within his mind. He thinks to himself, "Invitations and posters were scattered all throughout NightMist, I do hope that more people attend." Noticing that a few more minor details need his attention, he smiles and nods to Whisper as if offering a silent thanks for coming, then he turns his attention to getting the waiters ready to serve the guests that he hopes are still enroute.

The road to Thorn Manor was unfamiliar to her.  The narrow streets of Blackthorn were deserted, yet the wind carried with it fragments of voices, laughter, and perhaps things much more sinister.  She pulled her tattered gray cloak closed to keep the chill from reaching her.

She presented her invitation to the doorman.  Her voice was soft and low, barely above a whisper, but none ever seemed to have difficulty in hearing her.   "Please tell your guildmaster that Aeryn of Draco Honoris has accepted his invitation."

As she was shown inside, she paid little notice to the colorful decorations or the grand architecture of the Manor.  Rather, her attention seemed to fly from face to face, her own smile growing as she watched the guests dancing, laughing, and feasting.

She made her way across crowded ballroom toward her host.

"I bring greetings from my Master, Trevayne.  He sends his regrets that he could not attend, but his duty on the Hallowed Eve is clear."  Her thoughts turn briefly to the Keeper, knowing that even now he moves one step closer to Aet'Thol.

"I also bring greetings from your cousins in Draco Honoris.  I believe some of them may be joining us shortly.  I was asked to bring this..." From within the folds of her cloak, she removed a small pendant.  The silver chain and filligree seemed almost too frail to hold the deep amber stone at the end.  "It is but a small token, but perhaps you might see fit to offer it as a prize for the costumes this evening."

The guildmaster glances quickly at the tattered gray cloak, the unspoken question as to the nature of her costume clearly evident.

She blushes briefly with embarassment at her own forgetfulness.  "Ah... but of course... you did not think I would come without proper attire?"  She unfastens the silver clasp holding her cloak, letting it be pulled from her shoulders by one of the attending servants.  The robe beneath is constructed from red, orange, and gold feathers and seems to dance with a light of its own.  She takes a step back away from her host and his bodyguards, raises her hands above her head, tips her head back toward the heavens and in an instant she is englufed in flame. The flash lasts but an instant, but the impression is clear. A phoenix, reborn.  She smiles, bows to her host, and takes her place among the assembled guests.

Lokey turns and notes the mysterious figure who's speaking in elven. Though not his native tongue, Lokey understand every word that is said as he's fluent in several dialects of Elven. Lokey nods in greeting to the gentleman and approaches to offer greeting.

"Good eve, and welcome to the hallowed halls of the Midnight Thorns. We are glad to have ye join in our festivities this All Hallows Eve. Please come in and enjoy our hospitality."

Lokey takes some time to acknowledge Wise_Crack's costume, but is interupted as the one of the servants informs him of the arrival of a member of the Draco Honoris Family.  Lokey nods to the servant and turns back to Wise_Crack. "Please, make yourself at home my dear elf. I must welcome another guest to the festivities."

Lokey turns and notices Aeryn stepping towards him. The servant informs Lokey that the woman approaching is Aeryn. He smiles softly at the one he's heard a great deal about from a mutual friend. "So ye are the lady Aeryn. Trayben has told me much of you." Lokey bows to Aeryn. "Welcome to the home of the Midnight Thorns. I do so hope that the leader of our cousins will be joining us this eve as well, twill be good to spend time in the company of such an old friend as Bishop. But I would nae want to discount your company as well." Lokey smiles to Aeryn pleasantly and listens as she presents him with her gift.

"Why thank ye dear lass. I do believe that is an excellent idea. A costume contest." Lokey smirks and passes the gift off to a servant with instructions to keep it safe until he calls for the medallion.

Lokey's lips crack a soft smile as Aeryn reveals her costume. "Elegant and femanine, not to powerful as well as a symbol of rebirth. I would have to say, that is quite a fitting outfit for a night such as this. A reminder of the hope and dreams we share within this dark, and gloomy land." Lokey nods to Aeryn and then motions for her to come with him to be introduced. "I should announce your arrival, as well as the beginning of the festivities as the sun is about to set."

Lokey addresses the crowd that has gathered as he motions for Wise_Crack to join him and Aeryn. "Fellow Thorns and honored guests, might I present to ye two more guests who have joined us for this ball. First I present Lady Aeryn of our cousins in the fight for peace and harmony of all, the Draco Honoris. She has offered a keen suggestion of a costume contest. The Draco have even supplied a prise to be presented to the winner." He turns to Aeryn and nods in thanks once more. "And next I present to ye..."

A servant quickly hands Lokey a piece of paper, almost anticipating his Guildmaster's error. Lokey examine's it for a bit as it reveals the name of this elf standing next to him. As seemless as if his thought was never broken, he continues his introduction of this gentleman, completely concealing the fact that he never caught his name before. "I present to ye the mage known as Wise_Crack."

Lokey nods to the two in thanks for coming and watches as they join the other guests for his next announcement. "I know that a few of our guests still have nae to arrive, but as ye all can tell, the sun is beginning to set. So without further adue... let the festivities begin!" Lokey nods to the band and they begin with a lively Irish tune beginning the ball.

*A slender elf walks through the doors, some recognize his face others do not. With the grace custom to his race Julius Eversong removes his jacket and hat and hands them to the doorman. He then crosses the long entryway to greet the host of the ball. Taking the hand of Lokey he shakes it firmly and smiles.*
"It is good to see you after so long my friend," Julius says to him warmly. With that, he walks to the refreshment table to grab a glass of wine and sample some cheese. He then mingles with the other guests hoping to find some of his fellow guild members.

A horse-drawn carriage arrives at the Thorn's manor with the emblem of Draco Honoris upon it. The rider jump down and opens the door. A cleancut and handsome man steps out of the carriage. Drake Is wearing some devil horns, and the tail to match hits the ground soon after you notice his quite hilarious contradicting costume. He turns to face the carraige, and extends his hand out gentleman like to help the vampire Misty out of the carraige. With seeminly perfect grace she joins Drake. Drake takes her hand and gently plants a kiss on the top. "Here we are. From the looks of it, this should be fun!" Drake smirks at his date and gives the doorman his and his ladies overcoats.

The Vampire needs no costume at all for the ball but above her halo of crimson tresses she sports adorable black cat ears that move very life like every so often. Taking Drake's hand her lips blooming into a cheerful radient smile she steps from the carriage lightly. Movements lithe and stealthy.

The vampires curved delicate form is encased in the most dazziling of black silken gowns. With bare shoulders and a single tie that wraps about her neck. Tieing under that fall of red hair that streams clear to her knees loosely.

Making her way into the delightfuly decorated place her extremely white fangs .. small and sharp looking flash a moment as she bites her lower lip out of habit. Making her look childlike a moment. The skin of her shoulders is a milk white with contrasting splashes of freckles here and there.

Behind her are folded her enormous black wings. And around her waist a sweetly coiling ebony fur covered tail.. it has a black silken bow wrapped around its end. And flicks playfuly.

About the vampires neck is a small silver choker with a cheery little bell to announce her arrival with a light sounding chime every so often. Her bright ocean blue eyes admire her date and she winks at him ;  cheerfuly letting him lead the way.

As he enters the ball, he pays his respects too all of his good friends. He first walks to LoKey and shakes his hand and congradulates him on throwing such a spectacular ball. Then, Trevayne, smiles at her and wishes her well this eve. His cheery face grows sad at seeing his friend Shadic alone, and goes to him, striking up a conversation about pipes, and shows him his elven pipe, they smoke together and Drake's eyes redden, and smiles and laughter soon follow. He bows before the honroable Julian, as he is pleased to see clansmen among the guests. With the beautiful Misty by his side, he gets a glass of fine wine, and taps on it to get everyones attention. "I would like to make a toast. To LoKey, for making this wonderful eve possible! Now, Let's all have a grand night, I wish all of you, friends and all, a merry night!" With this he quickly downs the wine. Looking into Misty's eyes, he says, "You look quite spectacular tonight. That dress is simply stunning on your beautiful body. I don't know about you, but I cannot wait until the dancing begins!" He smiles and listens to the band playing delightful tunes.

Lokey turns as the voistrus barbarian has stepped into the hall. Lokey smiles as he steps to the large man extending his hand to him in welcome. Wincing slightly as the grip of this hulking figure squeezes, Lokey's face remains pleasant and inviting. "And we are honored to have ye amongst our honored guest, sir." Lokey motions for a servant to claim the gifts and store them for safe keeping. But speaks on behalf of the axe, "Store the items in the treasury, all except for the axe. Let it be prominently in the meeting hall. Let it be a symbol to us of honor and strength." Lokey turns back to his guest, "Again, I bid ye welcome."

Lokey then notices a knight slip in and move to the corners of the room. Turning to a guard, a silent question is asked. The guard answers his Guildmaster's gaze, "His name is Shadic from what I have been told." Lokey nods and then turns moving toward the knight. As he gets close and speaks in tones of admiration, "Greetings Sir Shadic. We are honored that ye have made it to our humble event this eve." Lokey's attention is suddenly distracted as there is a crashing sound in the serving area. Lokey nods towards Shadic, "My apologies, but it appears as if I am needed. Please, enjoy our hospitality." Lokey quickly moves to the doors leading to where the sound emanated, and vanishes through them to tend to this mishap.

After several minutes have past and the musicians have come to take their first brake of the eve, Lokey remerges from the doorway and begins to mingle with the guests. Out of the corner of his eye he smirks slightly as a figure cloaked from head to foot in a hooded charcoal grey robe makes their way seemingly unnoticed through the crowd. The figure walks gracefully as to glide over the floor in what appears to be them treading on air itself. Lokey's watchful gaze shifts as an long time friend approaches.

Lokey takes Julius' hand and shakes it firmly. "Welcome my friend. Tis truly good to see ye. I am glad that ye were able to make it." He walks with Julius to the refreshments table in pleasant conversation when another couple's entrance is introduced. Lokey turns back to Julius, "Excuse me my friend, but the duties of being a host call. I will talk with ye later."

Lokey moves through the crowd to the doorway and greets Drake_Lord and VampressMisty. With a warm smile, Lokey addresses the new arrivals, "Welcome to Thorn manor. Tis good to see ye both my friends. I am glad that ye both were able to attend." Lokey shakes Drake_Lord's hand and bows respectfully to his lady. "Please come and make yourselves at home." Lokey smirks at Drake_Lords's outfit and speaks jokingly, "So we finally get to see the truth of your nature which hides beneath your holy robes? Tis horns which holds your halo in place!" Lokey laughs playfully as he welcomes his friends once more, having a server bring them some wine.

Lokey turns to move back towards the the refreshments when he is stopped by Drake_Lord's address to the crowd. Lokey become somewhat flustered with embarassment as he hears a toast to his honor. He quickly lifts his glass and nods to Drake_Lord and then drinks with the others to the toast. Lokey turns and nods to the musicians as if to ask for them to return to the stage, and with a smile they do just that. The music once more fills the halls as couple make their way to the dance floor and the ball moves back into life.

Outside, the night air takes on an unusual chill as an isolated gust of wind passes through the Midnight Thorns Manor grounds. A thick, musty fog quickly engulfs the entire area as if pulled in behind the unnatural gust. Just as it settles in place, the broken howl of a not-so-distant wolf breaks the silence like the crash of thunder.

The stable hands, standing in wait at the manor's outer gates, become visibly uneasy and fidgety as they await the next arrival.  Struggling to see through the fog, hoping for a glimpse of a costumed visitor to ease the tension.  But, instead, their hopes are shattered and fears given form as, without a sound, a monstrous wolf and black rider burst into view only a few feet away.

Stable hands and guards alike stumble back from the surprise, some falling to the ground in fear.  But the figure with rider passes and disappears again, within the fog inside the manor grounds, as quickly as they had appeared.

Incomprehensible shouts can momentarily be heard from the area of the outer gates, and then all is again silent - outside the manor anyway.

At the large, oak doors of the inner manor a similar event unfolds:
Hearing the faint, momentary commotion from the direction of the outer gates, the guards stand alert and ready - but unsure of what to expect...  Only a moment after the renewed silence, the doors of the manor slowly, but deliberately, creak open of their own accord, causing the guards to be increasingly distraught.

Before they can react to the movement of the doors, just as at the outer gates, the wolf and rider silently bound past and into the manor. Again, for just a moment, muffled shouts can be heard from where the visitor just passed, then silence.

The fog and chill air tumble quickly into the manor, down the eastern hallway, and, slowing to a trickle at the ballroom threshold, gently rolls over the floor and spreading into the festivities.

The hunchback doorman glances fearfully down the hall for signs of danger, while also glancing to his guild master for instructions. Time runs out quickly however, as wolf and rider appear in the doorway in the time it took him to glance away. There they stand, frozen in an instant, sharing the doorway.

The doorman starts back, colliding with the doorframe at the sight:
the wolf, a winter wolf, stands five feet at the shoulder, dirty gray fur coving most of it's body, hanging off in clumps at sporadic intervals revealing putrid, decaying muscles and bone. Its eyes are gone, but a fiery red glow illuminates the sockets from within. Frosty breath exudes from its gaping jaw as saliva drips, falling to the floor as icicles.  Where its paws rest on the floor, disks of frost form and expand out, fighting back the warmth previously there.

Little can be distinguished of the rider, the shape and size of a slender human is totally shrouded within a large, hooded black cloak - the same red, glowing eyes emanate from within.

A scrap of parchment flutters in the draft as the wolf bounds, with a great leap, twenty feet into the main ballroom. It lands with the clinking of shattering ice that jars loose from its body, but without rider.  The cloaked figure took flight from its mount, gliding up and over the chandelier, and gracefully drifting down to stand before the guild master, LoKey.

Back at the doorway to the ballroom, the hunchback doorman curiously examines the scrap of parchment left where the visitor stood moments ago.  He clears his throat and announces:
"I present renowned adventurer and scholar, and on this eve Death Rogue (like Death Knight), Lord Bishop Dragontongue of Draco Honoris."

As the announcement is made, the red eyes of both rider and mount fade, returning to normal.  The cloaked figure draws back his hood while lowering to one knee before the host, head bowed.

raising to stand face to face with his host
"'Tis a great thing you've done here this night; my compliments."

The merry music plays, dancers dance and the servers scurry through the crowd, gathering empty glasses, bringing food and drink to the guests. And still the charcoal robed figure moves amongst the guests almost unnoticed save by one, feeling the eyes upon them a soft unseen smile traces they lips of the figure, going back to studying each guest closely.

LoKey’s attention shifts from the conversation he’s holding with one of the guests toward the doorway to the entrance of the ballroom as he hears a commotion within the halls of Thorn Manor. The band’s tempo is scattered and the music is broken as the players are distracted by the sounds echoing from the hall. LoKey holds his hand up and the musicians stop playing, so as to allow the seasoned adventurer to hear that which approaches. Astonishment consumes his face as the doors to the ballroom are flung open at the sight of the hellish wolf and its dark rider. LoKey’s gaze fixes on this figure and he prepares for the worst as his instincts are withheld only momentarily at the surprise of this latest arrival.

The guests gasp for breath at this hideous sight and scatter as the wolf bounds into the room.  LoKey’s eyes stay fixed on the figure that glides through the air towards him. The robed figure moves with blinding speed and vanishes from sight. Lokey shifts his weight getting ready to dodge and react to the attack he is certain is coming. To his amazement, the cloaked figure stands before him making no threatening actions beyond his mere appearance.

The doorman clears his throat, regaining his composure as he announces, "I present renowned adventurer and scholar, and on this eve Death Rogue, Lord Bishop Dragontongue of Draco Honoris." A slender white hand touches LoKey's side letting him know the figure is there. The charcoal robed individual has slipped from a shadow behind LoKey, poised ready to strike.

LoKey halts the four guards on approach to his aid and speaks, “Kern Hold… Tis alright.” A short figure steps out of a shadow, revealing a gnome known by only a few. LoKey’s protégé, Kern, has emerged with his dagger in hand, ready to strike. At LoKey’s command, Kern lowers his weapon, as do the guards and time has elapsed enough for all to know that the newest arrival is friend and not foe. A flash of emerald green can be seen as LoKey’s hand shifts, tightly gripped around his dagger.  He sheaths his dagger once more.

The charcoal robed figure now steps up to LoKey’s side as LoKey bows to Bishop, “Quite the entrance my friend.” LoKey sees all the guards and guests are beginning to ease and the fright is subsiding. “Tis good to see ye Bishop. Welcome to Thorn Manor. Allow me to introduce ye to my wife.” LoKey’s gaze turn toward the charcoal robed figure at his side.

As the seemingly ghostly white hands pull back the charcoal robe letting it drop off her shoulders as an attendant takes it before it hits the ground.  There stands Izabeau La'Mace her red-blonde hair flowing down her back in loose curls to her hips, her skin shimmers in the candle light. She wears what looks like a night dress, a soft reddish gold hinting at being seen-thru but nothing can be seen; she has 2 bloody holes in her neck, one upon her slender wrist. Izabeau curtsies deeply but her deep emerald green eyes never leave Lord Dragontongue, "Good Eve M'lord, I see my Master LoKey calls ye friend.” She smiles warmly toward Bishop, stands and then turns to LoKey with a wink and a soft “I love you” on her lips. LoKey smiles at his lovely bride, his eyes show the passion and love of all the ages wrapped within his hazel eyes, the smile upon his lips echo her expression of love.

LoKey then turns his attention back to the stage. “Musicians, if ye will, please continue.” LoKey offers one arm to his wife and then walks with Bishop as the three begin to engage in conversation. “Glad ye made it my friend. How have the fates treated ye?” The conversation becomes lost in the air as the music once more begins to fill the room and the dance continues amid these hallowed halls.
