Ok now folks this is really important. The missus and me are getting not one, but TWO GREAT DANES (which are pretty much the biggest kind of dogs you can get) in about a month's time. Now, we're finding it pretty tough thinking of two suitable names for the beasts. We need a couple of names that will go well together, as the dogs are going to be friends (and nothing more!). For example:

Neo and Trinity (my favourite)
Samson and Delilah (lol)
Jesus and Mary (lol x2)
Sonny and Cher

etc. You get the idea. Ideally the names wouldn't actually be a couple, as like I said, they should be just friends...

Anyway get thinking I need some creative and useful suggestions please! Inventory of nightshades for the winner...

I think your crazy for getting 2 great danes.
They need a large area, unless you have a farm and are in the country, It's not wise to get 2 of that breed.
(I hope you have thought of the "land mines" that will fill your yard.)

Oh and yes it's one male one female.



Interestingly, they don't need a lot of exercise. Bigger dog does not equate to more exercise. It does mean more food though (and the results...).

The two names I did consider from nm crits would be Pharlap and Sunline, since Jared named them after horses in the first instance anyway. But nah.

Greek gods and the like are a good source but it tends to be done quite often. I quite like calling the male one Hulk, but nothing goes with it.

Good ideas please keep thinking!!

Apollo and Atlas are also good dog names but not sure what female name to pair with them.

My favorite color is harlequin for a Great Dane. I also like the brindle color. What color will yours be?

Call the male the "devastator of destruction who will be a good kid but also a kook, but he'll go hard for what he is. Moving right along." Or "Cal is gay".

Female... Phoenix was a sweet druid. Buffy is priceless, especially season 3.

Taboo, Aztec, Havoc... moose man, we had some cool names. Vagabond, Nomad, Juggernaut, Stella, Renegade, Omega. The list goes on, pick one of those.

Apollo and Zeus I think were the dogs on Magnum P.I. He had a cool Moe.

My vote is for Jannes and Jambres (Janis the first is pronounced). They are thought to be the two greatest magicians of ancient Egypt.

We decided in the end that getting two at once was mental, so we got one only, on saturday. I called her Callisto after one of Jupiter's moons. Leaves a good option to call the male Titan if we decide to get one later.

If you have a puppy get an older dog with it, it's soooo much easier! I have two dogs and got a slightly older one to keep him company and it made life so much simpliar, when I'm at work they keep each other company and stuff.
