Don't know if this has ever been mentioned before, but.. what in sam's hill does it do and if not anything, can something be done with it?

Description: A handle crafted from blessed magewood. Such wood is enchanted through various incantations, and is known for being as sturdy as it is light in weight. The Magewood Hilt looks as if it would be the perfect base from which to construct a sword of legendary quality., Type of item: Doesn't do anything special, or is a key.

My idea.. make a blade that will go with it that you have to find. Make it only 1 blade. Another blade can't be found till the first one is found. Each blade found, would enable another one to be found in a different location than the first. And never in the same square nor does it necessarily have to be a boss drop. It could be found by even killing a rabbit at one point. It would be a good quest

It's original purpose was to be part of a weapon that was constructed by the player by combining magewood hilt, blessed leather bindings, and two other items, the blade and one other piece. With Havanors absence from staff, do no expect it to ever happen.

You sell it in the Silversail Pawn shop.

Now doesn't that just ruin the whole idea of having to explore?

Might as well give you the full history of the Magewood Hilt:

The other two items Deval is referring to were supposed to be the Titanium Blade and the Ivory Guard, and were to appear in subsequent areas that I had started working on.

The Magewood Hilt was supposed to be really common (and is the only part of the sword that was released into the game); the Bindings were to be much less common and doubled as gloves (presumably until the owner figured out that they served a greater purpose); the Blade was to be an uber rare questie that would have apparently no immediate value (but see below), and finally the Ivory Guard was to only be released into the game once every six months, or some very infrequent interval.

All these items were intended to be made pawnable at the SS pawn shop, with a dramatic increase in value for each one, and the Titanium Blade fetching quite a pretty penny..

These items were to be combined--once someone figured it out--to create an uber sword of formidable power. I had hoped that alignment would be brought in by the time all of the pieces we implemented, and as you created the item, it would read your alignment and you would have on your hands a dark sword or light sword, depending.

All useless now, but a fun little NM fact nonetheless. Hope everyone's having a good time!
A good post is like a miniskirt: short enough to pertain interest and long enough to cover the subject.
