ok, i know the way the NM client recognises the keypress of F1-F12, but is there anyway it could be sorted to recognise Shift + an Arrow key to move in the direction.

The reason i say Shift n the Arrow Key is because the up n down arrows are used for text history, and the left n right arrows are character shifting.

This would also be a bit easier to move round, especially for new people starting.

To use it, the user must hold down Shift (or whatever key is chosen), and an arrow key is pressed, you would move in that direction.

Anyhow, post idea's and comments,

Steven

It's been posted before, can't remember the outcome but I don't think it'll be added because it would just make everyone so much faster running round and you'd lose the fun of being rudely or pleasantly interrupted on your journeys.

Could you imagine how fast one could move if one just held down on key to move in direction? In theory, you could simply run past most monsters.

On Revelation you can't run past the monsters fast, as it doesn't register fast enough..

This is sort of similiar to when I suggested putting in a way to move without having a keyboard, the idea got shot down and I don't think this is really needed...even though when I first started playing this being my first text based game I had troubles moving but soon got the hang of it.

Not really different than using macros to move which people already do. It just frees up macros. If not the arrow keys maybe the numpad?

Pandi tried to shoot down the num pad saying it was the same as the arrow keys but there is a scan code difference making it possible to do. To Squee simple make it so that you have to release the key in between movements making it so that you cannot just motor also I can do the directions fast enough that I can barly be hit on walks even when hitting enter to me n,s,e,w and enter could be the same key for all I care.

Ehh, it's the same as just putting them as on one of your macro sets. Doesn't take THAT long to get used to the directions being in a line. Just as fast. No point in adding it, just extra coding.
