Is anyone here familiar w/ the ALF and ELF? (Animal Liberation Front & Earth Liberation Front) Or any other radical liberal groups like that?
Do you think they are terrorists or freedom fighters?

fun fact: lots of folks think peta is primarily for 'ethical treatment' of animals, hence the name. however, the ultimate goal is animal liberation. just like the alf, peta can border on terrorism also.

it's most notable run-in terror for hire is thier massive gifts to arsonist rodney coronado. they gave the guy something to the tune of 70,000 dollars, to fight against the court after burning down a lab. why would peta help some guy who's criminally crazy for animals? because peta is criminally crazy for animals. what's worse is that peta doesn't come close to supporting humane societies and shelters near as much as they support criminals and organizations with criminal and terrorist ties.

what it comes down to, i think, is that when you sprain your mind in that fashion, you fail to connect other logical patterns. when "all animals should have the same rights as humans" makes sense, so does, "destroying property and harming humans is small price to pay for animal liberation progress!" obviously these are both false.

these organizations = crazy. end of story.

edit: as a side note, if you want to support the humane treatment of animals, by all means volunteer at a humane society, or shelter. they need the help. also, if you're compelled to fight for humane treatment of chickens, cows, etc. then start writing letters or organizing campaigns against factory farms, as they're not the most care-free way to raise animals, and they're also often horrible smelly enviromental problems.

I thought Alf was a fuzzy alien creature on a popular US sitcom. But I could be wrong. . .

but it's sure funny when they throw blood on people who wear fur on the red carpet. mob mentality and a complete lack of purpose in one's life makes for interesting results.

i don't agree with the whole "if it breathes, it has the same rights as you do", yet it's an interesting idea that these people can be so close to animals, and do something that is strictly a human thing: show pity. the more these people act, the more they further themselves from the animals they demand to be their equals. how so very queer.

but then again, i believe these people are just one step away from joining the natioanl pet rock society, or nambla. attributing aspects/qualities of life to things that will never have them, and blindly overshooting one's right to happiness can be creepily dangerous.

but how funny is it when a celbrity gets a tofu pie in the face?

*oh yeah, Jim was right that Alf was that phalic-nosed alien... and he ate cats. weird.

These people are feaks. I have been targetted twice by these nuts purely because I keep exotic lizards.

Animal libbers are a very scary type of nut believe me, and have ended up with some incredably powerful political clout, albeit more through accident than design.

They hold enourmous sway in organisations like the RSPCA through their political arm Animal Aid (think Animal Aid, think Sinn Fein during the troubles), which in turn influences DEFRA and in turn the Government! This is really scary.

Oh no, not the RSPCA! Oh yes I'm afraid, behind their huge advertising campaigns (ever ask yourself why an organisation like the RSPCA needs such blanket advertising campaigns?), their charter calls for the complete banning of ALL companian animals, which includes cats and dogs. Obviously someone in that organisations hierarchy has some shred of sanity left, and realises that if this information was common knowledge then their millions of revenue annually, would dry up from the cat and dog lovers that support them!

Did you know that next to the food industry, the RSPCA is the biggest killer of animals in this country? Compare that to the Blue Cross that manage on a fraction of the income generated by RSPCA to keep all their rescued animals alive? A certain irony in that.

Whew, whew....sorry rant over, but these people...... they do more damage than good, and ironically to the very animals they think they are protecting.
