Anyone else out there running Windows 8 currently. I can't seem to get Nightmist to load at all on 8. It has a tendency to freeze my system when I try and start the program. Anyone out there have any ideas or suggestions as to how to fix this?

Hmm, I've been on 8 for a few months now... and I don't recall any issues.  Have you right-clicked and run as an administrator?

Yeah, I've got it set to run as administrator. I've done anything I can think of. I guess I could try to uninstall and reinstall.

Uninstall and reinstall didn't do any good, still having the same issue. Trying to load nightmist just locks up my entire system. Tried running nightmist on my fiance's new computer which also has windows 8, it will at least load the client but it hangs up once "connection established" appears at the beginning of the manager.

Hmmm, this sounds interesting... random thought:  I had some issues with apps running when I first upgraded and I then disabled the UAC.  Go to Start > Search > User Account Control > and put it on the lowest level and see if that does anything.

This seems like it may help, too:

might have an issue with multiple firewalls or internet securities. after running as admin check and see if its allowed on all of them (i.e. nortons avg windows defender etc)

There's exceptions in both firewalls giving nightmist full incoming/outgoing permissions. I'm just at a loss. I got it to work on my fiance's computer but every time I try to run the client on my computer, my computer freezes up.

It's running in compatibility mode too. It works fine on my fiances computer which is also running windows 8. But everytime I try to launch the client on my desktop, it freezes windows and everything becomes unresponsive.

Problem solved. I'm pretty sure it was a corrupt or nonexistant .ocx file causing the problem. Working like a charm now.
