Black crossbow
would be a weapon just like any other but would have the ability to see the squire next to you and shoot a person in there ...

it would work like this: you can cast /spy (like spyglasses) on a squire or /shoot [n/s/e/w]/[crit/mon name]
the shooting would be just like an assasinate

base damage: 20
can be equipped: 30
cost 1mil/or boss drop

feel free to expand the idea ...

I think you're confusing them with assassins, thieves come up close to a victim to steal whatever and injure them (possibly kill). Killing with a crossbow makes them still have to move to the victim to rob him.

i remember the game thief had a nifty concept of using a bow to shoot rope to another level or ignite/extinguish objects. this would be cool, but there's virtually no demand or motivation that's ever been exhibited by anyone i can see or find.
wouldn't it be funny if rich had registered this name first, and you were bickering with him?

i think this wouldnt be a bad idea for a ranger (cept a bow) and probably lower base damadge

NO!!!!
it would be a better idea if it were for rangers, but not thieves, rangers are the ones that use bows, a long bow can shoot across like 4 football fields :P
i can shoot across one :P

Even if they did make this weapon, It would have to cost alot more than 1 mil...it'd make the theif class very over powered. Its like a spy glass that can assassinate people pretty much. I don't see it to be fit for any class really...

actually, it wouldn't have to be expensive or super hard to come buy. despite the mass appeal of status quo "new things have to be super-duper extrem-o expensive/hard" cries, a simple single firing bow with special purpose arrows would be a nice addition to the class of thieves.

its not a bad concept, but I think it can't be /spy ability-wise.

/shoot east/Pandilex
There is no Pandilex to your East.
You fired a black arrow to the East hitting Pandilex for 40 points of damage.
Pandilex was hit by an arrow from the West!
You just got hit by an arrow from the West, causing you 40 points of damage!

You CANNOT /spy. That's too godly.. If you know Pandilex is to the East, you can shoot there.

Something of the sort.

why regular arrows? that's pointless for a thief. they're not archers, but they are sneaky bastards. a bow isn't a bad idea, but it would be pointless without special purpose arrows such as poison arrows, arrows that blind people, weaken people, or even cast out other hidden characters through enchantment of flash devices.

it just seems like a bad idea to give thieves a bow if all it can used for is conventional archery. we got a whole class that does that already. it shouldn't be that original to suggest that thieves be given more tools to be thiefy, but i know just how many people play thieves in a thiefy way.

even if you knew pandilex was to the east how would you be able to hit him if you couldnt see him. the spy part would have to be on it. it just makes sense

ooo, flashbangs, now theres an idea. Not necesarily thief only, but throwing a flashbang like a grenade onto a square shows all invisible characters just like the vision spell.

I don't support any current class being able to attack into a different square.
ESPECIALLY not a class which you can use multiple crits of...

Can you imagine what some people would do? If not think about this---On my friend list alone there are 6-10 people with 5 or arch thieves.

There are even more with 7+ lvl 28 thieves that will be arch
I think two of them have more than 10 arch thieves.

I could see them getting bored, sitting out of a place like the CG and firing in..people cannot leave the CG, only log. How would these people stand any chance?
What would you do if you were out training and were suddenly being bombarded by arrows from some direction? (macros would make that easy to do)

Yeh you could seriously take a person out then run to stop them and just knock them off one by one.

Before you say hit and runs that is a lot different at least then you don't need to change square and then start attacking to get the person.
