An idea for an advanced Mage spell (Master or Archmasters only)...

Soul Steal

Price at guild: 25,000 gold
Mana Used on cast: 50

Similar to a thief's assassinate and a berserker's smite. Damage done relies on Intelligence and available Stamina, and chance of success depends on your Dexterity and (against players) your opponent's (lack of) wisdom.

Notes: Uses all of your stamina in one go. Usually, not quite as powerful as the Thief and Berserker equivalent.

Something to aim for when training Mages!

But in using it, you'd leave yourself open to be hit, and it doesn't take many of those to kill you.

I dislike the idea of all classes having a 1 click spell/ability. Infact, I think they should be removed, but that's a different subject.

I don't think their needs to be another attacking spell, as that only (again) promotes PKing. Yes it's part of the game, that is well known, no need to promote it more though
Go check another post I'm about to make in the Mage section :)

You have a point there, alone. But I tend to find that Mages kill without mercy when they reach Archmaster anyway, due to the number of times they have been PK'ed themselves.

True, I dislike PK'ing too, but not everyone agrees with me, and the ability to kill other players is a part of Nightmist... you have to learn to avoid the habitual PK'ers.

Anyway... let's not drift from the subject too much. I'm interested to hear people's view about this spell suggestion... keep 'em coming!

I think this idea is pretty keen.

...Although, it's getting a bit tiresome seeing as these suggestions for spells that are just meant to kill stuff. Mages should be able to do a multitude of things, not just destroy.

Another spell would be nice but not a 1 click how about something like a reworked devestate that people keep hoping for but name it soul steal because that is an awsome name (sorry about any typos this forum is annoying to type on as it only catches up in luls in my typing)

yus yus i agree whole heartedly, if i remember correctly back to my Final Fantasy days, mages could only use attacking spells, but they could cause status inflictions.. maybe if there as a spell that put a crit into a status (ex hypno, sleep, confused w/e) that would be nice, otherwise im all for having classes with new spells, always gives something fun and new to look forward to
bottom line, two thumbs up for the new spells lol d_b

since this is for mage spell, how about mana shield? after casting the spell, mp will take place for hp. the damage done to the mage will take down mp first before affecting his/her hp. (wonder if this had been said before...too lazy to check)

You mean like the spell of the same name on Diablo, or Energy Shield from D2?

Haha, leave them open to attack? Alts, my friend, alts. They defeat the purpose of said downside of spell.

No more one-clicks. They are ridiculous.

To be honest, I don't really know that much about mages. Oh well... I guess Soul Steal was a nice idea, but too much PK-ing, I agree.

I like the idea :) wouldnt pose that much of a threat to nm either considering there are only a handful of arch mages.

you guys are on to something here. and i agree; mages definitely should have a whole mess of new spells most of which should be non damaging spells

ghost sound: a mysterious sound is heard in the distance the effected creatures would act as if under the effects of hypnosis though it would have to work better

I compeletly agree that mages need something new, something to make them more... worthwhile, but I dont believe that taking abilities that other classes have and putting a new name on it is the answer. They need more power, for all the training it takes, but we dont need to go to the stupid one click abilities for it.

agreed. mages need new, origional spells but not cheap rip-offs of other classes' skills

Perhaps Devestate before it was reworked and then taken away. I'm not understanding the purpose of mages or this forum as of yet. The idea of a mage is great: hard to train, low life/armor, POWERFULL when maxed on level. Nightmist, however, seems to ignore one of these. The spell devestate was out before I restarted playing nightmist, and then it was gone. We have all heard stories about how strong it was, and about how it was reworked to be weaker, and finally taken away. First of all, are mages not supposed to be powerfull? If this is true then everyone is doing an AMAZING job, because they suck. I dont care if you have a level thirty mage and its strong, mages should be stronger. As of yet there is no real point of leveling them save for invisible. I have a mage and say all of this from my experience with them. If something is going to be done about mages then do it already. We can talk until were blue in the face, but the problem remains, stronger than ever. Who among staff will step up and right this wrong? Who among you support me in this? The time for talk is over, action is the next step. Once again I do hope that JLH and Pandilex read this, and I thank you in advanced for the change to mages. I put my trust in you for now.

Respectfully yours,

sad thing is the staff that could do something about this probably will never read the topic though if they do they should probably share their opinion about it
