im suggesting a minor change to the dull cobalt ring craft.

I think the greater elfstone part and the spirit dust should be swapped around. making the craft look like;

Glowing Cobalt ring

The Iron Cauldron is located in the Guild of Crafters.

Glowing Cobalt Ring

+Dull Cobalt Ring
.-Spirit Dust
...-Spirit Essence
...-Fairy Dust x5
.-Sapphire Gem
...-Crystal Rune
...-Sapphire Shard x5
.-100000 Gold Money Order

+Greater Elfstone x2
.-Elfstone x20 (10 for each Greater Elfstone)

+Red Hot Iron Staff
.-Iron Staff


This frees up a little bit of vault space and basically offers a 4 ac ring for around 600-650k
-(100k money order, 100k spirit essence, 5 sapphire shards 75k each, crystal ring 75k)

the craft could possibly see some use without a lucky person gathering 20 elfstones first.

I very much support this idea. Gets people to start crafting it without getting an elfstone, which were rare..but maybe that's changed.

 

This would get gold off the server for people preparing to craft a few for their crits, during the long long haul. This is something that staff always want right? +1

 

Freeing up vault space for people crafting, why not. +1

 

But who would've started crafted this without already having like 10+ elfstones anyway? Not anymore! +1

Initially I was reluctant to consider this because Elfstones are the biggest offender when it comes to taking up vault space, but at the same time they are also the rarest item in the recipe.  Crafting an upgradable 4ac ring for 600 to 650k seems reasonable enough, and even on multi-alt the value is not too far away from 450k if it was rearranged to this.

My only concern is for those who already have a Dull Cobalt Ring but haven't got a Spirit Essence yet to complete it.  I know I am one such player on multi-alt, but I don't know of any others on either server.  Can someone enlighten me?

basically on either server the dull version of the ring has barely any use because it is the harder part of the craft. Most people will already have the spirit dust and red hot iron staff long before they get the 20 elfstones, or atleast definitely have the capabilities to do so. Meaning in most cases its crafted into both tiers simultaneously.

I just figured it was a nice option to give the ring a little use, even tho its expensive. On 1a I'm not sure if anyone will craft more than 1, due to glowing cobalt ring having max equip: 1 and if they do, it's just more gold and items out of the game. Best of both worlds.

I'll ask around to see how many people have Dull Cobalt Rings currently.  For one thing, I rather upgrade my own one to a Glowing one before I implement the change, since I would have lost 2 Greater Elfstones in effect!
