only thing i could think of was that rangers using bows would miss more when they were learning to shoot - takes more skill to lean to shoot then to bash some one on the head with a club.

(and yes i realise they can bash people with clubs and still miss)

lol somehow i doubt thats what JLH had in mind when he coded it.

The simple answer is - dex isn't that big of a deciding factor in determaining chance to hit as it should be.

have you used zerkers? ;) 19 dex human zerkers hit soo often, lol. Even 18 dex zerkers I notice hit 6/6 more than I notice rangers hitting 5/5 while at bosses...

zerkers are a newer class, so I wouldn't be suprised if dex played a bigger part with them.

or it just goes to prove that zerks are overpowered...

but that doesn't really seem like the case. ;)

you could get 6 dex by having an elf with minimum dex and an ale keg helmet on

Err... they hit just as often as any other non-fighter-main class (zerk/fighter). No one complains about the accuracy of pallies, even when half's. I think accuracy has a bit to do with class as well.. (why else would a cleric only land every other hit, at higher levels, maybe less at lower, even with high dex)

my mistake...minimum dex + ale keg helmet + boots of time

but i don't think thats it because they said 'initiate' and obvisouly cant wear Boots of Time. So it still interesting how they got it down to 6...lol. But nonetheless, rangers will always hit the way they do, and corectly stated mages will always reek the benefits of stam.
