First the question: I was around when they changed this, but why did you get rid of numbers allowed in names?

the suggestion: I think you should be able to put numbers back in names. /shrug

just wondering, how come they changed it so your name couldnt have more than 1 capital letter in it? i dont see how that takes away rping, rather makes you more distinct.. hmm they did take it away, how come there are still crits left with these names? eg. HopesFall, ShadowDragon(omg i own it ), LionHeart, DragonHeart, DesireMe, ColdHeart.. theres a few others, just cant remember them off the top of my head lol /who THC i think has some more

People were making names such as IrocKYoUAlL and admin disliked it.
If however, you'd like a name such as ChildHeart, I believe if you leave a memo to Pandilex or JLH, they'll happily change it, within reason.

o.O why does it matter that much? Its one thing if theres a thing like "DragonHeart" or if you were puting a first and last name or something. But i've seen countless rants by THC about his name getting adjusted. And i just gotta wonder... is it that big of a deal?

Right, why are there still names active with #'s in them then? Not by the Grandfather clause... cause i'd still have THC if so. Like E2, 7upman, cc1, im sure theres more.

THC, when they changed the rules, they said all people with numbers in their name were allowed to keep them, as an exception. And that they were also allowed a free name change if they so wished. No new characters can be made with numbers, nor is anyone allowed one.
187 was another character, he was forced to have his named changed though.

If it were up to me, I'd just allow people to use spaces instead of having to use more than one capital letters in their names. I'd much rather see characters with first and last names (and middle names).

Of course, that would cause more problems than it solves...seeing how three quarters of Nightmist's population don't even know what RP'ing is. >_>

i also asked on MSN if it were possible to make use quotes,(eg /p 'first name last name' heya) but apparently that wont work either(maybe cuz of vb, who knows)

I dont see what the big deal of it all is, o well, you cant get names like DragonHeart anymore without memoing jlh or pandilex. i mean hlf of you call JLH, jlh i just did in my last sentece too, so im not saying i dont do it, but if u can do it it him, y shouldnt he do it to u, isnt it only fair. but i also think that if you already had the name, then u should be able to keep it. if not, o well

Yes, that is honestly one of the un-coolest things ever. THC, CKY, and other names that were made like that shouldn't have to be taken away. People who would argue that they're too mature...well, if it is honestly too mature for certain people in game, how do they know what either one of them stands for? And the names are still allowed, just not capped, it should be one way or the other, caps on letters doesnt change them except to the person who had the name for years and then has the name changed to something that just looks dumb.

No offense really intended, i just dont see the point of taking away names that really aren't even that bad, you've got names such as reefer, what is worse about THC or CKY?

I guess it's just up to JLH and Pandi, i can't complain too much since it's all their decision, but i know i'd be pretty upset if a name i played for a really long time was just changed into something stupid looking.

I feared THC. Maybe you should start a petition to get them to let you have it back like that? I'd sign. You just don't look right man.

Perhaps it has something to do with what THC is the acronym for. Forcing the use of lower case does appear to lessen the blazingly obvious meaning the name is designed to indicate, especially when taking younger players like Xcelon into consideration, who have little life experience, but are dangerously smart enough to easily understand the acronym.

Id have to agree with both sides of the argument here.

I agree with the staff firstly. People did abuse the rule and made some truely pathetic names that sure did make the game look tacky.

On the other hand I think if a character was created following the game rules at the time, then it should be able to remain that way if minor changes occur.......obviously it's a judgement call, but in THC's case it's more to do with the name's meaning than the caps i'd imagine, as JLH seems to have been pretty reasonable changing back names from what I remember.

you missed my crit, sk8ermage. cc1 is a new character, but a staff memeber gave his original chosen name to another crit by accident, so his name became cc1.

Ya, it was free of charge. JLH said it couldn't have a name with just numbers because it had something to do with tp'ing to that crit instead of square number 187 or something..
