Hypnotise is deadly in duels. Arch Berserker aginst Arch Ranger, Ranger uses Hypnotize, Berserker misses an awful lot. So yes, I use it. I don't think it makes much of a difference in fights with monsters though. Not sure, someone will have to clarify that.

From my experience, certain monsters are harder to hypnotise than others, and some cannot be hypnotised at all.

But if the hypnotise is successful, the monster will stop attacking you and might follow you more or less often, depending on the monster. However, if you then attack the monster, it snaps out of its trance.

If you are wrong (which is unusual), then it should ceratinly be made like that, sounds realistic.

That is what hypnotise is currently (versus monsters) from my experience. Things like objects (e.g. Storage Cabinet) and some bosses cannot be hypnotised at all, and Demonic Soldiers (apparently) start following you when hypnotised.

Works really well in duels and helps to win alot of them. I use it frequently.

Off topic:

I was thinking about the ranger Hypnotise and realised it's pretty much useless in fights against other people since most just hit macro and alt+esc...
No one wants the hazzle of clicking hypno then back to rapid fire and then do rounds.

So here is my suggestion.

Pre-Emptive strike:
requires one stam, very similar to flaming arrow/Hypno combined in a sense.
Basically would work as flaming arrow but the attack would be something -

"*** Attacks you from a distance with his bow, injuring you for xx dmg
*** Succesfully did a pre-emptive strike on you."

Effects would be target loses/<regains> 1 stam <less>, for a period of time <1 or 2 rounds preferably, and this would only work once every say 10 minutes? To avoid it getting to abused> It would get rid of the entire hit macro/alr+esc mentality on ranger... atleast for 1 round.
And would mean the ranger/party actually has a chance of surviving against Zerkers/Fighters/whatever... since let's face it 4-5 stam hurts less than full 5-6 it would also get the entire storyline of the Rangers back into the game.

So for storyline purposes.
Ranger not a melee indicated character, uses a bow preferably from a distance?
This would actually give the game some storyline value, seeing as different classes get's different instead of just clicking the same things over and over and over and over... <you get my drift.>

Writer's note:
And for the record, I didn't think this through... I was bored and sat here talking in Clan chat when for some reason someone said pre-emptive strike, which got me thinking about what that actually is and how it could be implemented into the game, and yes I am aware that this would be of purely Duel value but hey, anything is better than it is now... maybe something for NM2?

Zerkers Bane? Nah people would still use Zerkers cause Zerkers walk right over everything else spelled.
It would just be nice to give berserkers etc etc weaknesses... making each class more specified, instead of the whole, I repeat, Switch screen click macro mentality.

Same as Thieves are real good for jumping <unless you own a mage which makes Zerks a hell of alot better while invis>

Rangers would take out Zerks

Mages take out rangers etc etc

So there would be a plus and minus with each class other than just a "I got 200 rangers/zerks Ima pwn your 3 alts"

Quantity is alot in the game currently, I want some storylines and some thought back into the game.
