Price In Gold To Arch A Mage....

Ok so me and AJ(Rincewind) got bored and started running some numbers on how effiecent mana is. What is best for the price, came out mana crystal>lodestone>advanced but almost everyone knows this, but then we started think bout mages, so heres what we came up with.


Calculator: 250*14*20 = 70,000(price for 20 things of lodes)
Calculator: 130*14*20 = 36,400(how much mana points for 20 things of lodes you get)

I'm not sure about the accurateness of this next part, cuz ive never trained a mage, but i hear for 8 mp you get 2k exp per atk, so

Calculator: 36,400/8 = 4550(number of atks you can do with 20 things of lodes)
Calculator: 4,550*2,000 = 9,100,000(number of atks*exp you get)

So for 70k you get 9.1 mil exp, so

Calculator: 250,000,000/9,100,000 = 27.4725274725275(number of times you would have to use 20 things of lodes)

Calculator: 70,000*27.47 = 1,922,900(price for 27.47 things of lodes)

So

That is almost TWO MILLION GOLD to arch a mage....

So Flame about the accurateness of exp you get per click now, plus refreshing and idleing and what not, But don't forget about fizzles before you add those things in.

you make gold as you train though, and you do regenerate mana as your training... and different exp on different monsters...

but yea, it does make sense, some of the other (smaller) factors will add up alot by arch, but yea....seems right to me

well considering mages are probably best class PvP win most event's etc, the price of arching one/buying one is well worth it ;p

Surely the best way to re-coup mana is to go to a Tavern? Then you're most likely looking at 100gold, 300 in Silversail (I think, been awhile though). Which means you'll be making a lot more gold than you'll be using.
Obviously, this requires hitting n running monsters, as a mage can't really stand up solo very well otherwise.

The way you worked it out, you forgot to take into account the mana used to heal the mage, assuming you're training him the conventional way.
Then we've got the cost of spells, equipment, etc etc.

Actually I used pub refresh and clan house sauna to train mine to arch :)

hit and run, and refresh in the pub or clan house is profitable, even when i take a cleric and leave town, i've never had a problem covering the cost of mana

Honestly ive never trained a mage so I don't know this was just a really bored middle of the night kinda not thinking brain storm....

Just thought it was sorta cool that if you was to train that way it would be 2 mil in mana lol.........

everyone knows that mages need perfect strength, so all you really need to do is attack monsters with your staff....at least thats what I always did

I just did my mage from 28-29 no mana pots whatsoever made about 120k gold refreshed at clan sauna. was making about a mil xp every 30 mins or so not even being aggresive at it.

hmm wondering if anyone has tried mage training with dwarven pickaxe.... using a max str mage obviously and a cleric to hance and pally to champ str. any? does it work?

not mana efficient, mages chance to hit sucks hard, so you need to enhance and RF to make them even pretend to do any significant physical attacks

This explains why I never have enough gold, lol,

The other thing to take into consideration is whether or not your clan is an active clan, in so much as the entire clan goes on quests as a team.

I owe a lot of gained experience due to these clan outings, and the assistance of none clan friends......

It took 3+? years to arch Lowmion with the use of a thief as a packmule.
