Like it says, /library on monsters too, no need to show hp and stuff just the
desc of the monster.

Would help alot when doing pics, that way you dont have to
hunt them down and look them.

And it would be nice occasionally read these desc's

edit: it could just show the look up desc on a monster, minus the "and its attacking you".

I like it, but only for the bigger, more killed monsters - I wouldn't like people finding out (possibly) clues to new areas before they're even out yet.

Looking up the HP of Aet'Thol and working out how many Pacifists I need to take him on...

The librarians probably won't know much about the monsters because they might not be ones to trek into such dangerous places (let alone live to tell the tale). And yes, it would give too much away in my opinion. Not knowing your enemy is part of the fun!

If it just shows the monster look over it's not giving away anything. Personally I think the look over of the small snake is far scarier than that of the modern art sculpture, and we all know which hits harder and faster and takes longer to kill.

As long as stats of the monster aren't revealed I think it would be a good addition, so I support it.

All monsters have "descriptions" - it's what you see when you look them over.

I'm all for a way to look at the descriptions of normal things such as snakes, sculptures and drow, for Elshira and the Demonic General... because these things are fought frequently.

However I reckon that the Librarians don't know a whole lot about some of the rarer monsters- Lyzanthir, Ganymede, Blue Dragon... et cetera.

I know that these are the monsters you tend not to look over because you tend to be focusing on not dying at their hands (claws?) and whatever... but I think that whenever the librarians go to look fr such creatures they die before they can write a description of what they see and send it back to their colleagues (as Crane said, these librarians probably arent all that used to fighting ^^).

Its probably fairly hard to find a warrior who has fought one of these beasts when you waste away in a library all day too...

Supported- just... not for every monster. Not because it would let you "know the enemy" or anything like that, because I sincerely don't think a look over description would give you that sort of info, but rather because I'm picky ^^;;

Well I have to disagree on your reasoning Charon, let me elaborate...

If a warrior in old times came across a rare dangerous creature and survived the encounter, he surely wouldn't keep it secret but instead warn everyone about it, describing it (possibly even exaggerating) to people who wish to hear the tale. Word would spread, and librarians rarely got their information through experiencing the foes themselves. They relied on the information brought to them via such tales and asking around for more people who met said creature.

Surely their books would pay special attention to such rare things rather than not mention them at all, while the description could possibly and very likely be altered to something that sounds even more dangerous than it already is, all depending on the truthfulness of those who have encountered it and spread the information.

I'll be the first to dispute it then. I think people should have to see a monster to know its look over. I think people need to learn more of the game by moving out of their normal places; I garauntee if half of the game knew about some of the stuff in some areas, they'd have new favorite places to train and whatnot.

A little checking on the map sites and asking around, works alot better than just looking descriptions on monsters if you are looking for places to train and i dont see what is wrong with it, if you look a monster up on the /library and it gets you to explore new areas to train.

/library Ganymede

Ganymede was a High Pacifist of our caste. In his youth the deities chose him as an observer of the realm and a servant of the spirits, a shaman. It was during the dark days of this realm when the undead horror lead by the Druid defector, Norinth, that he tried to bring peace to our war-torn world. As the great battles ceased, the honoured but unknown followers of the Pacifism faith began to be recognized. Fascinated and moved by their non-violent ways and closeness to their deities, Ganymede received permission from his spirit masters and was baptized and initiated as a Pacifist. After this historic event in our books, Ganymede inspired many citizens of many races over the ways of Pacifism, my sister and myself being two such people.

Ganymede had an on-going responsibility given to him by his spirit masters to bring peace to the realm of Nightmist, which included ridding the world of the undead beasts that plagued the earth. As wise Ganymede was, I feel he was overconfident in his duty. For when the presence of a lich came to his attention, he sought to free it from his undead state that had driven it to insanity; he did not count on the power that Aet’Thol possessed. Ganymede barely survived, but a change has come over him. Upon returning to the temple to report his encounter, the other Pacifists noticed in his language and tone that he was no longer his normal self. As the days passed, he had defected from the Pacifist faith, developing a taste for blood and violence, and was siding with the undead, the very grotesque beings he originally sought on banishing - we were in total despair; our most respected Pacifist had been corrupted by Aet’Thol’s evil power. Like Norinth, his power was amplified by evil, and we feared that he would start another great war. Our deities, also despaired at his change, banished him into the remote region of the realm known as the Land of the Dead, so his power could not bring darkness. But alas, his power reached beyond his eternal prison and continued to wreak havoc on our world.

Angered by his downfall, I had once attempted to take a group of willing Pacifists to banish Aet’Thol for his terrible act - being the undead being he was we felt no pain in assaulting his lair; once again, his power overcame ours, but we retreated before we sustained too many injuries. Nevertheless, slaying the lich would not change what Ganymede had become. Our deities tell us that the only way to truly cure Ganymede is to enter the Land of the Dead ourselves and release the evil that devours his entity, only there is no telling that we would return; nevertheless, if it frees Nightmist from evil, then life is a price worth paying. The entrance to the Land of the Dead, unfortunately, is a closely guarded secret to those who know of its opening, and alas, many of us do not know where it lies.

And I, Europa, High Pacifist of the caste, tell you of his story in the hope that one day, he will be freed of the evil that has consumed him and remembered as the Greater Shaman and Pacifist he always was.

Journal Entry, by Europa, prelate of the Pacifist faith, contributed to the Library of Nightmist. 11th Month, 01 yr. of the 2nd Mist.

That would be really nice to have monsters locations and descriptions in the library. That way people could look for them where they are commonly spotted and go hunting, instead of hunting while blindfolded.

Perhaps a generalized description of their abilities would be in the libraries as well, assuming they hae been fought and killed. Though I am not supporting bosses being put in.
I am very sorry, if not for something I did, then it is for something I will do.
