Its pretty much up to you, but to put it simply:(Do help maxstats on the race your looking to roll, and aim for max dex, str, con *Atleast*) High dex, high str, and high con. Higher wis is always nice, magic dmg..etc...Char directly effects your rangers chances to hypno..so thats always nice to have at a decent level as well.(Check the prior post by Nebestu pretty much has this already in it. :) )

Well here is something else I'll add, the base I would call "must" stats for each of the ranger-capable races. The red indicates a maxium stat that is a must, and the yellow is simply what I'd consider a min-want for that stat in a ranger.

Human: 19 X 19 19 16+ 15+
~
Halfling: 18 X21 18 15+ 16+
~
Elf: 18 X 19 18 18+ 18+
~
Half-Elf: 18 X 19 19 16+ 18+
~
Also, here is the Help Max Stats command answer, its always best to aim to for the max, and also it desribes exactly what each stat does.
~
Human: 19 19 19 19 19 19
Dwarf: 21 18 18 21 18 17
Elf: 18 21 19 18 20 21
Gnome: 17 21 20 18 19 18
Halfling: 18 19 21 18 18 19
Half-Elf: 18 20 19 19 19 20
Half-Orc: 22 15 16 22 14 15.

Str: Damage done with a weapon
Int: Mages, damage of spells
Dex: Chance to dodge/hit
Con: Determines HP gain on level up. Theives, stamina usage of covert
Wis: Determines MP gain on level up and magic resistance
Chr: Rangers, Chance to hypnotise. Healers, affects healing power.

Feel free to page/memo: Alastar/Stop ingame with anymore questions on stats before you go through training it, but this should pretty much answer them all.
