Last night, I arrived home to find that someone had changed the password and security question on my sister's MSN account, so she claims; her boyfriend says that he was chatting to her on MSN, even though he later found out that she was not online at all. Thankfully, my own MSN account has not been affected, but I do recommend vigilance regarding what you download and install... MSN Messenger Plus+ is not as safe as it first appears... although I uninstalled it ages ago, it has already likely offloaded a stealth virus onto my machine that generates a rogue toolbar (Iop) and a number of popups.

I suspect she ran a virus someone sent, check the Received Files folder for something malicious.

I've been using Messenger Plus! since it first came out and I've not had any problems with it.
If you build it, they will come.

Same here.

Messenger Plus, is nearly a life saver and so nifty.

Microsoft Anti-Virus detecs Plus! as spyware, even though it clearly isn't as the creator (Patchou) went to a business meeting with microsoft to discuss his "voice clips" feature.

Though there is "optional" spyware that it asks to install during the installation, and with the usual rush people just click yes...

I suspect someone just guessed the password or security question... It really is easy since 90% of them are birthdays, pets, etc...

Yea it optional until Plus! automatically updates and installs the Lop Virus, most ppl that have it infected will find a link to the lop site in there History folder of there browser. Unfortunately, its not an easy virus to get rid of as 2 processes run as part of it constantly checking that the other is still going, if you should close the one of them the other process restarts that process making it near-on impossible to remove.

And, if the "virus" is coded correctly it also attacks the "check points"

I figured that was comming. It wasn't a personal attack, alot of people give out their passwords.

Theres many ways it could of happened, most commonly, keylogger if she didn't tell anyone her password.
