Ok, this isnt very fleshed out *or at least at the moment I have not thought this over very well* But I thought maybe fighters should FINALLY get an ability for themselves, and I do believe I've thought of the perfect one...

BASH!

Ok here are details.

Pre-requisites:
1)Must have a shield on *Not a buckler, a SHIELD*
2)Must be lvl 15+

Ok, next.

Damage:
1)(Str*lvl)/7. Meaning a dwarf at lvl 30 will be doing around 90 damage with this. Not too huge.

Restrictions:
1)Re-use timer is the length of two stamina regens *I dont know the timing for stamina regens. So just it times by two*
2)Uses a singular stamina point.

Specifics:
1)If used when your opponent has full stamina, or more than two stamina. It deals the damage, and has a chance to subtract two stamina. Chance formula is ((Con*lvl)/9)+CURRENT stamina, FOR THE OPPONENT. So if your opponent was another lvl 30 dwarf there would be be 76% chance they would not be 'stunned' *with full stamina*.
2)If the opponent has 0 stamina, there is a default 100% chance that 10+ seconds will be added to their stamina regen timer.
3)If used on another fighter, and #2, conditions come into effect,AND the other fighter has already used bash, an extra <Insert stamina regen> seconds is added to the respawn timer of the opponents bash. along with the other effects of bash.

So, thats a fairly skeletal idea. If anyone has any thoughts, suggestions, etc please post them. New improved formulas can be worked out if the ones above wont work.

would have to only include base str - say a dwarf - spelled up
(31*30)/7 is 130 somthing - then 5 more stam left to keep hitting - could round alot like that - maybe if your meaning is a way to nock down or restrict opponants stam it should do less damage? possible less then a normaly attack? dunno i have maybe misunderstood what the 2nd bit is going on about.

I thought the way I wrote that entailed it would only be based on your BASE strength.... seeing as I stated the MAX a dwarf could do was 90.

And is no one looking at the fact that there is a respawn timer on it.....

Oh and BTW, there is the possbility it could MISS. Just like any other attack...

This is hardly overpowered...

Heh, when you say "It's not like current skills" - yup, you got that one right :)

I'm not really sure about it...it seems interesting and definitely different.

Ok, so what happens if i get an army of fighters, similar to the ranger armies we see around? I can surely jump on people when training, having all their crits macroed on /cast bash/xxx (obviously each one on a different fighter)

Then, when nearly all their crits have zero stam, i can kill them at my leisure with the 5 stam i have remaining.

Or am i being stupid, lol.

One thing i will say, this would certainly make duels more interesting :)

And how exactly is a skill going to be set up so that players cant log on 10+ of a class and murder someone.

IF there is any way possible, Im plenty open minded enough to consider adding it to the idea... But as is, for a single fighter, this is hardly overpowered.

And by the way, did you guys look at the formulas? Because I know most crits have max con, this would only be working like maybe MAX 50% of the time to acctually REDUCE stamina.

If anything, I've underpowered it with that fact....

Perhaps I should up the stun rate, and lower the damage to around 50.

Or somehow make the damage be dependant on how 'large' your shield is.

Or add a new stat to shields that is something like "Spiked shield: +10 damage to bash"

I dunno, I dont feel enough people are reading this.... no one comes onto this classes forum....

Just wait it out, and you'll see.

I like the idea, but it doesn't fit with current Nightmist abilities, as in, it is so extremely different than any other. It's the whole "Nightmist in its current state" thing again...

Without a starting foot in the door for more... I guess 'Radically' enhanced ideas nightmist will never see a change.

No one wants to make any suggestions, because anything NEW will be shot down for many reasons.

Most often its stupid sh*t like 'Its too much coding', or 'Its too new/different to be put in'

This is BULLSH*T. These ideas *And there are tons of them...* have plenty of merit. just no one wants to see it. Its rediculous...

looks like it need to be worked out a little more, but over all its a nice idea and would like to see it in the game or something similar in the near future.....

Basically one thing logical that could be added would be a bash modifier and stun mod. All shields are made out of different materials and made in different ways. So each shield would have a set bash and stun modifier added on to it based on what it is made out of and how it is made. For instance a iron shield, and a spiked shield. Iron shield is heavy because of the material so it is swung slower making it somewhat withstandable in pain but can nock you out anyway lol. bash mod would be around +5 and stun mod around +8. Then a spike shield is light but pointy. Therefore it stuns less but hit harder because of the points and speed. it would be more like bash mod of +9 and stun mod for around +5.

This will cause some changes to your formulas but would bring variety to the skill as new shields can be made decent armor base that can give someone the choice between wanting to stun or do damage. Of course there would need to be a cast timer on the skill to keep it in balance.

Also it needs to use more stamina. Since it is such a conscentrated blow it should use all stamina. Must remember that this is a hard blow and not only removes the fighters focus from battle but nockes them off footing somewhat.

Just make it the base armor damage be the stun mod, it's already there. Less coding.

I like this idea, but I don't like the language some people are using...

However:

My highest level lis a level 23 5-stat perfect dwarf (int is 8). I have 21 strength.

21*23/7 is 69, and I can only hit 67s, and thats underground. I think the damage needs to be toned down.

There it is again "LESS CODING" it is not alot of coding to add those 2 modifiers in. No more then a around 10 lines or less then some altercations in other places then the ability coding. I am also sick of the excuse it is too much coding to put in. if this game never changes it will suck more and more stop with the fear of change.

i dont think fighters should be given any abilities at all, they are what they are cause thats what they do, if you want abilities get a pally or a mage if you want to beat the c**p out of someone with nothing but brut force, get a fighter!
