I played this game in 2000-2001 with some of my friends from high school (YULA high school). Wondering if anyone is still playing since those times.

 

I played a class that (i think) was called elemental. Did that class get deleted or something? It was a class that used skills based on the environment. Like boulders and stuff...

Yup, good memories. I'd love to check out the new nightmist but I use a mac now, so it would be too difficult!

The mage class was definitely one of the original classes. I remember my friend Flux was a really awesome mage back then. I wonder if he still plays (prob not).

I was around back then, too.  Flux was one of the best mages- he pwned.  Him and Deval were great pals.  Cool dudes.  Sadly, they haven't been around in quite some time.

I believe that back in the day there was an elementalist class, yes. I'm not sure if it was the entire of pre-reset or just the first few months though. I have an old copy of the game somewhere lying around on CD, I'll have to unseal it and see what's on the disc...

I played on nm 1.0 but it was the last 4 or 5 months of nm original. I was Loxly, a fighter i think. I remember you could make your own character picture and send it to jlh and he would add it. I had shaggy from scooby doo. Im pretty sure everyone hated it lol!

I remember flux and paco, they were super helpful when I was starting out. I remember magos killing me a lot. Everyone wanted razor claws drop from the ssylx (sp?). There was good gold in hells wastes.. precise crystal shield dropped from the gemologist. Thats about all i remember. Good times

Wow, some old school memories right there!  I totally remember the name Joppa.  Isn't your real name Nick?  I thought at one point your main was a Human Pally or  Ranger...

Wow. So hes still around. I think its even cool that the pandilex is still around and it's his game. Android_20/Exor must have really enjoyed the game. What happened to JLH?

Hey! Yeah this is Nick   Its been a few years since i've been around. Yes Joppa was a halfling ranger but he was from the current nm. Got deleted from inactivity when i left and someone else nabbed the name. Good to see ya Pure. I am goofing around on multi lately. My mains are Ripple, Yakul, Daze to name a few..

Oh dear god, I only played Nightmist original for like a few weeks.

 

If..if there's anyway you can get me an offline version of it, alts allowed (so I can actually "beat" the game myself), I will pay handsomely for it. I'm sure I'm not the only one with interests, right?!

To Piddy: I mean really, no one plays a game to be weak and need the help of others. The option is nice, but people play games to be able to freakin destroy them, to feel like I > game.

 

If something takes 10+ people to get, it should be extremely, extremely OP imo

 

Besides, something isn't really OP if everyone can do it, because eventually everyone does it. So, why not make everything OP, so we can atleast have some variance?

 

No, I don't mean every class rounding one another! When I say everything should be OP, I really mean in the PvM sense. End game, max levels should DESTROY the environment.

 

I haven't logged in forever, can 6-8 people take on every boss on the server yet? Cause if so, I may play again. (8 was possible with full cobalt zerks and a couple clerics lol, but there's my point, where's the variance? Need more classes than zerks being super OP!)

I think I played at the start a bit too. I wouldn't mind seeing an old class or 2 brought back. Might bring back some old players and spice up the game I know I would give it a try again.

Hello there old Nightmister. Love seeing oldies pop up around here. Main reason I still come around =)

 

I was indeed Android_20 the Nomad Barbarian pre-reset. And yes there was a class called Elementalist. It sucked. Barbarian, Elementalist, and Necromancer (I think, it was Necro) were 3 classes that all came in at once in a patch. Same with the addition of the Nomad race and a couple others. I believe Undead was a race introduced with Nomad too.

 

But yeah I was Android_20 and I shared with my boy Ste(Stigmata) for a long time during the old days. We shared a mage named Madness that we power leveled to 30 overnight at the Harlequin.  I was a member of <Legion of the Night> a long with many of the original Nightmist players. Krillick/Anthrax, Ebony/Isyng, Andy/Eternyte, Laca, and many others were in this clan.  Was the strongest around for a long time. It was led by a guy named 'seth'. His actual character was 'seth'.  Ste and myself and a couple others then founded the clan <Dark Shadows> which rose to the top, and then later turned into <Council of the Elders> with pretty much the same members for a short time after the reset came.

 

You have a great memory Loxly by the way, lol. I also remember Akasha, MasterLocke, Flame69, and Bones69 etc. Akasha was Medora later on. Her, Flame, and Bones were the first friends I made on Nightmist. Before I was the badass Barbarian killing everyone with glee, I was a little noobie named Mark02 and Ryudo and they took me under their wings and showed me the ropes. MasterLocke and I became good friends too, although he was probably the biggest asshole in the game at the time. I was also friends with Flux, Paco, and some others in Flux's little circle. Was good times to be had. I remember some of the most entertaining nights came from conversations with Mistress_Kittie/Ganja(Cat), Laca, Flux, Deval, and Odin late at night.

 

But yeah I could go on and on talking about times in the old days pre and post-reset both. I've been around longer than most, although there are a few oldies like me around as you've seen here already!

 

I had some amazing times playing this silly little game back in the day and I met some really awesome people. I just wish I hadn't lost contact with most.

 

Oh and Simon, you or JLH should seriously get a copy of pre-reset up and running. Just for us to get on and mess around again. Oh man that would be awesome!

Pre-reset was good fun, running around with Julian, Thunderja, Fyara all different clans but still good friends

yeah it did suck, but it's still a good memory for me. I don't think many others played that class. I remember begging for buffs and Pandilex saying that it is good at higher levels...

The more I think about it the more I would love for JLH or Simon to get a server running the old Nightmist. I think if it did come back though there should be a 3 alt limit on it since no one really ran more than 3 alts at a time back then.

I doubt they would open up another server when the 2 up hardly have any players on them. I think it would take a lot less resources to add a few of the old classes to one of the servers or something like that.

Yeah it wouldn't be the same though at all sadly. I dunno I think if they put up an old server they would actually get some oldies back once they found out. I mean to be fair there shouldn't even be two servers now so a third one isn't going to really make a difference I'm guessing.

 

But yeah if they did add classes from pre-reset to the current game it would just be awkward. One example is Berserkers are just like Barbarians in some ways. Then you look at the Thief class which is a combination of Thief and Assassin from pre-reset. And the Mage class is an extremely weak counter part of what it was pre-reset too. Same with Fighter as another version of the Knight.
