Now I see why people carry around lvl 3 covert thieves. Seriously, is there any way you can make NOT getting PKed a possibility? Like, say /nokill means not only that you can't attack players, but they can't attack you?

Or maybe you can "Hire protection" in any inn; and they will travel with you for 1 gold per square traveled, and as long as you have one with you, you can't be PKed.

Shigogouhou's bodyguard steps in the way, keeping you from attacking!

PKers are ruining the game for me...I can't even train alts without running into invisible mages, druids or thieves, just sitting around waiting...by the time you realize they're there you've been hit with four Beams and half your party's dead. That's no fun....just hoping to get some thoughts on this.

Its always been this way and it always will be, best thing to do is find your self a clan with protection, somewhere with many allies.

Have you tried training away from four square south of Nightmist?
I find that to be very helpful.

And if you're training else where and having that much trouble, you probably ought to try to move a bit.

When I started playing there wasn't even a level cap. There's more protection for noobs nowadays than there ever was. If you have trouble, try training in less frequented areas. Yes, the exp may not be as good, but at least you get to keep it. You may also want to consider training in areas with a level cap, that way at least your opponents will be on the same level as you.

If all else fails, there's always the half exp arenas left. ^_^

Many people follow the path to PKing. Though I am not a PKer myself, I can imagine that it can prove quite profitable, not to mention give some an ego boost.

The best ways to avoid PKers is to train when the server is relatively quiet, and as Lady_Maha said, in areas that are not so popular. Even in areas that are relatively popular training spots, like some of the forests, it is a wise idea to train in a dark corner, away from the main traffic routes that link cities with other cities and places like the Underground Barracks.

If you want to avoid PKing altogether, the Pacifist class allows that, but they are extremely limited in what they are able to do.

I've tried training away from the forests and south of NM; but when you're training crits around lvl 15 you're limited as to where you can conceivably go without dying every other battle. Plus, the tougher the place you go, the more likely you are to stumble across players training levels 20-25 that are more than happy to annihilate you, take anything you drop and go back to training, all in less than a minute.

Well, that and being around lvl 15 means lvl 25 mages can Beam you to death without you having a chance to realize what's going on. You're attacking a bear and he's almost dead and then kablammo 3/4 of your party is in the Boar's Tusk. Seriously, would it be possible to knock the level cap down from 10 level difference to 5? There isn't a lvl 15 crit in the game with a prayer of a chance against a level 25, but a level 20 would be a bit more fair.

10 level cap rules. As already said, imagine playing where a level 30 could attack a level 3... It was stupid.

The best thing you can learn is how to run, know where you are and what grids are around (which safe grids are nearest is useful (druid/ranger training areas in forest, for example)).

Grassy Path is rather vast, grab a pen and paper, map it and go train around there. Gnoll Fort is ok, explore it and you'll find one of the best areas in the game, and low level too. Natura's good for Rangers/Druids, just a case of working a few small things out, and it's even better. Um, need more advice? Sounds like you should join a non-PK clan, or at least Anti, that way you'll be around similar minded players, 99% of whom are more than willing to help you out. I'll IM you a few that should be of interest.

You show me ONE level 15 crit killing a level 25 crit; or one level 20 crit defeating a level 30 crit and I'll believe your little "Yay 10-level cap" theory. Until you do, it's pointless to say stuff like that. I prefer the more honest way of killing enemies for gold, instead of the other method of going invisible and waiting for someone to come across your square so you can obliterate them before they know what happened.

You get like, 10 xp for every one HP of damage to a crit. So what's the point of PKing other than "I'm too lazy to make gold, so I'll just cruise around waiting for someone not as strong as me to kill so I can have their gold."? Is there one?

Eye at level 15 defeated a level 25 numerous times, and he kept on coming back. Now he's level 19 and could easily take on most high level crits if I still played. You have to know how to play and defend yourself. If you have friends on this game then your in, but stop complaining about how it should change, becuase the fact is, if you get better, you could defeat them high levels also.

How in the b.... H..., (pardon my French), d'ya think the rest of us have got crits trained to arch level, AND before the 10 level cap was put in as well.

My suggestion to you is: Quit whining and follow one of the suggestions of the other players or, if you choose not to do that, find a game - there are many - where pk'ing is not allowed or even possible.

IRL you will probably also either stay out of dangerous areas, carry a fitting weapon or end up mutilated or dead without your purse and various nice things you carried with you.

LOL and this is coming from a guy who only yesterday dropped 30k and 56 advanced mana because he absolutely had to train where others could find him ^_^

dude u got it so easy about a year ago (when decent players where around still) u would need one training party and atleast 2 people to cover u

i can remember 1 time kev was training clerics and tr came to get him fortunatly tom and alex i think it was corey (we lent him theifs) they hav around 36 of them
and i was on 4 arch clerics 12 arch rangers and 10 arch zerks

against ste andy rob jose stotic and disjunction

inside zeum that many players and that many alts i cant remember what happened but i know rob jose lost there alts at mummy against me but they droped alot of my rangers so i had to go back for them on the way out jose got me really bad i had to log when i loged back on stotic and disjunction killed 18 of my alts then tom and corey got them all i know is in the end kev managed to arch like 3 clerics brings back the good memorys of when pking used to be fair and not done by how good your name is

so dont moan m8 u got it easy training now is a piece of cake compaired to old time when there was active players that where decent

just cuz when u take alts training and 5 arch thiefs jump out on u u think training is hard thats nothing id welcome that compaired to what u would used to get if i hit u about 9 months ago u woulda known it 14 arch lings with full equip dont miss and hit 200ish i havent posted for about a month and its just hit me now as im typing this the reason there are so many archs is because they put up the level cap witch actully made the game nuts then they add pacis to make it evan easyer thats why we got nubs thinking there good

So if you were black, I could come up to you and beat the hell out of you, and if you didn't like it, hey, a while back a black person used to be a slave, you should be lucky you just got beat up, right?

Didn't think so. Yeah things were bad back then, but just because they're slightly better now doesn't mean all is well. People shouldn't have to be forced to carry lvl 3 covert thieves in their parties, and trust me, as of late it hasn't been a yes or no decision, because if the answer is no you might as well not even bother, because the PK wipes out the XP gain and without the thief all your items and gold are gone.

How fun is it to train for an hour ANYWHERE only to get wiped out by some idiot who decides to swipe an hour's worth of gold in 3 minutes? How is that fun? Sorry, but I shouldn't have to spend six hours rolling a six-stat crit and have 3 arches go with my party just to train without getting slaughtered. There are dueling arenas for people who want to fight people, let the others go enjoy the rest of the game where you earn gold without screwing somebody out of an hour's worth of training.

How in the hell can you compare racism to getting pked?!?!?!? That's like saying since some dude killed you on a game you're gonna go find him and "pk him" irl.

People have given you some really good advice that you ignored because you refuse to listen to what anyone else has to say. The game shouldnt have to change because YOU want it to, it's not your game, adapt to it!
There already are places with level caps on them so your level 20's couldnt get pked by lvl 30's in there. Here is an example of two of them: the swamps (lvl 25 cap), the area Cyric created that is N of the meadow (I forget the exact name but it's level and class specific). You can also go to the spider caves. Not that many people train there anymore and it's in the grassy meadow! These 3 places are all close to towns!
The point that people were trying to make by telling you what it was like before the lvl 10 rule was that it used to be harder for some people to train. Personally I dont like and never have liked the lvl 10 rule. I liked the challenge of training with a level 5 S of NM and watching out for arches (mostly rangers) that would just smoke me. It made training challenging. In a lot of ways it was fun to the level 5's as well. My arch ranger almost died from a level 5 with an oak staff because I went afk on her in a pkable spot. I laughed so hard when I got back to my comp and saw that I had like 30 hp left. Of course I then pked the crit but it was funny. I still used a low lvl thief to hold my gold before the lvl 10 rule, a LOT of people did!

I can compare racism to PKs because 90% of the responses I've gotten were "Shut up, it used to be worse, be happy it's the way it is now".

And every single location that's been suggested, I've tried. Oops, PKed there too. Apparently the PKers are reading this topic and watching for me...

And that makes it make more sense how?

Well I'm obviously not going to convince you that there are ways that you can minimise your risk of getting pked since you obviously know the maps and the game better then I do or the other people that have tried to give you advice do. (Yes that is sarcasm)

In my opinion, not everyone needs an arch to get by in the game. Sure, an archmaster is a great thing to have but it's also a lot of work, time, and patience, plus tolerance when you always have pkers hiding or around you. They're there, and will remain in the game, and continue pking when they feel like it.

Of course, you get frustrated when you train for hours getting lots of exp and gold then BAM! they pk you with full force making you lose all of it. But you need to learn how to let it go, suck your gut up, and try again perhaps somewhere else.

You've got to believe me that training will get harder and longer as you level up but you have to work your way up little by little. Sure, some bully or someone tries to push you down the stairs as you walk up them but you have to decide whether you want to stay down at the bottom of the stairs or try again to work your way up then get the person who pushed you down those stairs. You need to show them that they don't own you and that you're not their pk slave.

When I first started out, I rolled my crits and the first place that I was introduced to was the Nightmist Training Arena. This was always where I ever trained at until I reached the level limit of the arena. Then, I started exploring Nightmist. I was lucky to find a small friendly clan that helped me around the World of Nightmist and supported me when I got pked by someone. It's good to have backing when you play Nightmist because that's what keeps you playing. At least from my experience it did.

My point is find friends that care enough about you that will back you when the going gets tough.

And always remember: [Quote]: It's just a game.
