Well, I get stuck helping noobies alot, and after half an hour I find out that they have HORRIBLE stats and usually end up rolling them a decent character.

Also, back in the day when I was a noob, I ended up getting:

a level 21 ranger with 15 strength
a level 23 fighter with 12 cons
and an assorted amount of other horrible crits.

My solution to noobie bad stat syndrome:

A new option in the "new character" screen would have a "basic stats" button. If you click this then you get a pre-defined set of stats.

Human: 17 17 17 17 17 17
Dwarf: 19 16 16 19 16 15
Elf: 16 19 17 16 18 19
Gnome: 15 19 18 16 17 16
Halfling: 16 17 19 16 16 17
Half-Elf: 16 18 17 17 17 18
Half-Orc: 20 13 14 20 12 13.

These stats aren't very good, but yet it's not detrimental if you waste your time leveling up one of these.

Also, these characters are decent for getting the hang of the game..

Just a simple thought.

One new character per IP, otherwise it would be abused..

People would make a million rangers and get OK stats right away. Then, nightmist would become a "who can set and push macros the fastest" contest.

All 17's suck, along with the other stats, there is nothing OK about them. Also, it already is a "who can set and push macros the fastest" contest.

They'll just sit there and create an army of not so good stated chars, but at the same time. if they put effort in them, they get an arch in a shorter time than it would take others who actually sit and roll..

Yes, I just confused myself.

It should only be a one time option, so they can get used to the game... There is alot of infomation around if they'd be not so lazy and actually READ what is there to help them.

Isn't that already the case?

And what happens when those people who actually tried to roll, and maybe didn't get "good" stats. Hmm..?

Hmm the point is if they do put some effot in too leveling their crits then they will be able too buy cheap 4 stats and train them...Also if you take a look at the stats set out how long do you think it takes to roll something similiar lol.

i think there should be more like a thing that tells ya what stats you should aim for each class like something that tells ya that for cleric aim for high dex cons wisdom and charisma thief max strength dex cons and wisdom same wit zerkers and fighters etc.

Tutorial Section: Every character also has Statistics on their Strength, Intelligence, Dexterity, Constitution, Wisdom, and Charisma. The Higher the Better. Strength affects how much damage is inflicted in hand to hand combat, Intelligence affects the power of spell damage, Dexterity is your speed, affecting how often you hit with melee attacks and how often you dodge them. Constitution is your physical health, and affects your hitpoints, wisdom affects your resistance to spells, and how much mana you have. Charisma is your Good Looks, which always comes in handy. Now go West.

You don't want to give out to much information in regards to info like stats. Sure we want everyone at some point to have nice crits, but not having them from the jump simply because of a lack of knowledge makes you appreciate the nice ones later. Also they add for some pretty funny stories as time goes on.

My first crit was a human fighter with 16 con. At level 28 he had a big 256 HPS...lol

lol at first i was gonna support this...but now i think i dont support....

let the roll their own!....we've had to do it for how many years now?...and iam speaking for myself who's had to play for like 3years+(cant remember year i started lol...) but i agree the players should just learn themselfs...the hard way, which btw isnt so hard if you do actually just read the tutorial sections which most players point you twards if they take just a second to think..how can i help this newb the easiest and fastest.
