I was banned for allegedly multi-pcing, when I was on my Cleric and my wife was on my Ranger. He said I said something incriminating in clan chat (which was far from it), and came to me and said I was on both characters. I figure he'd entitled to his opinion, so I ask him to test me if he thinks I was. Instead, he continues to ban me without any reliable proof. If JLH doesn't unban me, I will not return to Nightmist, I am sick of this harrassment from Stig and I highly believe he should be removed as staff.

Contact JLH on msn, he told me himself anyone banned for multi pcing will be unbanned immediately.

What you say in clan chat isnt banable.
If Stig came to your house and saw you multi pcing then he can ban you.

2:27:28 PM JLH: Auto rolling is mandatory, anyone found rolling manually will be punished!

Woot it's upside down day! That NM can't hold active staff is odd isn't it. Are there actually actions staff do that get praise. Banning multipcers is bad, letting them play is bad... ignoring them is the safest option. Which is the case with almost every 'dillema' in NM. You either care and come to the realisation that your hands are tied and quit or you become inactive staff.

You're probably leaving then, because I don't see you getting unbanned anytime soon. You did allegedly multiPC quite a few times and everyone kind of knew it. I'm not here to argue whether you did or didn't, but you should serve your ban nonetheless.

Buy a webcam and then come back. Until then, hopefully Rob starts playing again, and maybe a few others that switched over or quit due to this not being taken seriously.

I still dont understand why Alec is banned... him saying in a page, "I hate training rangers" means nothing.. its a statement if anything..

Prove stuff the right way or dont do it at all..

Because I've been watching him for the best part of a month, multipcing on 4 crits and then just 2 after Ryuku was banned... his partners never calling for heals when teamed with other players, and often dying as a result and not reacting to it when they appear in a populated tavern, logging on and off at the same time, speaking about farming the Jaguar, strongly implying he's farming it alone even though he had Yoink, Manson, Craze and Tietsu logged on at once...

The final incident... he had been multipcing with Tietsu (a Cleric) and Government (a Ranger), the latter of which never said a thing to anyone, even when dying twice in similar circumstance and respawning in a populated tavern. But then he said "I hate training Rangers"... from his Cleric; this practically admits that Government was also under his control.

In regards to the claim that it's his wife and neighbours sharing a connection, he never mentions her to the other players as if she was a person in the room, not by name or by 'my wife' unless being challenged, and his 'wife' never speaks independently, if at all. So your wife has no voice, does she?

Really, if you want irrefutable proof, I'd have to install a spy camera in his room and capture him using two computers or a virtual machine, but since I don't know his address, not to mention I don't have a warrant, you'll have to make do with evidence collected from investigation work.

About the whole wife thing. My fiancee has played with me a few times, and she doesn't talk to anyone at all in game either. Not defending anyone, just saying.

I spoke with his wife ingame a few times aswel as his neighbours..

I know it wasnt Alec becasue i was sharing with them when the accusations started. Not everyone speaks while they play just remember that.

While i was training with Alec i never once asked for a heal, he checks the party to look at HP's like any cleric would.

"I hate training Rangers" is NOT proof and anyone who thinks so is a dipnuts. You obviously took that the wrong way.. its a statement. Rangers do suck to train.

I could get a few friends round and have them log on at the same time as me but it doesnt mean im on all of them does it?

When asked to test him you refused.. why refuse if you had solid evidance?

I dont believe he said he was farming it alone anyways, while it was been farmed i was with him 90% of the time and his neighbours.

You got this wrong Stig, bring him back and test him.. If he fails then you were right. Until then you dont even have 50% proof.

Unban them and wait until all four are logged on.(make sure they are unaware) Design an area specifically to test for multipcing. (I wont divulge it here).

Set your macros to teleport all four of them, and macro F5 to say "Do not attack this monster".

Teleport all of them at once, and press F5, with a non attacking monster at the top of the room (For autoclickers).

Instruct each player to do something different.

Try and have more than one staff member online while you're doing this.

If they pass this test, place a comment on there account that they have passed a multipc test, and to not retest before x time has passed. x being a few days, or weeks, depending on how satisfied the staff member is.

If they fail this test, lay down the banhammer and delete the lead character. (Probably the cleric).

Test him then say whether or not hes multi using.

Test him how? I need a test that can be completed easily by multiple users, almost impossible to complete by a multi-pcer, is resistant to unco-operative users, can be reused in multiple tests with multiple people (instead of building a new test area each time), can be operated by a single staff member, minimises false negatives and attempts to keep false positives at zero. The only irrefutable proof available in this situation is a photograph showing a user at two computers or using a virtual machine that has Nightmist active on both, and I do ask how I am supposed to get that.

Multi users use Auto clickers that alone is bannable.

TP the characters to different spots and the characters will hit anything you put them under.

You could even tp them into the mosh arena and watch them kill the character on top.

Jase answered that for you.

Not everyone uses autoclickers though, although that will entrap them, so it's one step.

If you suspect them using more than 2 characters at any one time its most likely they are using a program that allows them to use multiple operating systems so they will be using autoclickers.

If its 2 characters then it will be pretty tough to catch them but that would take some planning on how to do it.

If they are using 4 or 5 characters, then it is fairly obvious that they're multipcing and it's easy enough to catch them by, for example, saying hello and only one person responding, as well as watching how they attack etc. Detecting it with 2 characters is much trickier though, and hence the reliance on more shaky evidence such as lack of in-game interaction, coincidental log on / log off times etc, which do have innocent explanations a lot of the time.

Testing for multipc is as simple as making players do something different, one running to an area while the other counts from 1-20 or whatever can be come up with. Virtual machines, good luck with a single keyboard. No need to even test for autoclickers, besides, they aren't necessary. Similar to main really.

Testing for people with multible computers, usually doing something different with 2 keyboards at once is damn hard, 3+ impossble. That can be gotten around with siblings/friends on standby though. It's multipcing, but with actual people being there at a single notice, it can't be proven sadly.

Edit: Don't give them time to set up macro programs of course, get straight to the point. Infact, in one sentence, let them know they are suspected, and what each crit is to do.

Also, lack of ingame interaction is not an ounce of proof. How often does a single player on one character play and never talk? I've done it many times for quite a few hours. Two people playing Nightmist next to each other, why would they interact in game when they can say things to each other? Me and Rhia even made a joke about it once. Me "How come you didn't page me about this?" Rhia "Cause I said it with my mouth, to your face."

Good times, goooooooooood times.
