Eons ago, in a land across the great desert, there was a great and powerful kingdom called Marabas. Marabas was renowned for its advances in magic and technology. These advances were the product of their close relationship to their gods. The Shining gods ushered in the greatest era of peace and prosperity of the kingdom. High priests attuned to their deity acted as the mortal vessels, enacting their will in the living world. The Shining gods guided the people of Marabas, taking care of them as a parent would their children.

Not all the gods were happy, not all the gods were worshipped equally. Jealousy ran rampant within the Pantheon, causing a divide between brother and sister.

The Shining gods, in their infinite wisdom, called council with the ruler of Marabas, King Nari. They warned him of a war that could commence, and the action he should take if such is necessary. King Nari called his most faithful and powerful Wizards and Scholars. With the tutelage of the gods, the King’s advisers came up with a plan, more of a deterrent to protect the Races and the land for future generations.

Inside the Pantheon, all diversions from war were unsuccessful. War could not be avoided. Despite their best efforts the King of the gods, Acrion god of fire, and his faithful followers must meet his brother Aerin, god of the dead, in battle.

All the while, King Nari’s forces worked in secret. They placed various runes around the Kingdom, and readied their forces to meet the deadly Necromancers of Aerin’s followers. Until the plan could be completed, they must hold the line against the jealous god’s armies.

War raged and ravaged the land for months. Siege towers constructed, Ballistae were built, and trenches were dug. Even with the magical weapons the gods bestowed on Nari’s army, they were hard pressed to route the invaders.

The heavens stormed with battle. God vs. god, and the Pantheon flowed with the golden blood of the deities. Neither side gave purchase to the other, until the heavens were a ruined wasteland. Once a shining example of society, power, and justice, this place of enlightenment became a nightmare. Nothing was left of the heavenly home of the gods, so the only thing left was to enter the land of the living.

Nigh was the time to act for Mara, the High wizard of Marabas. Everything was ready, months of careful planning had brought her to this point in time. Once the gods stepped upon this plane, she would release her spell. Saddened by the thought of what would happen she readied herself. Steeling herself from what she must do.

Stepping into the Runic circle, her friends and comrades circled her, channeling their power into the circle and her. She knew this would most likely take their lives and possibly her own. One tear touched the ground, not one more would as the “Sundering” began. Channeling the power of the circle, around the land runes flickered in response to the magic. As the gods stepped into this world Mara finished her spell, trapping all until the end of time within their once shining Utopia. Trapped beyond time, frozen, the world of the living was safe. The gods would not ravage the land like they did with the heavens.

Thus remained for all of time, or so we thought………

Ages have past, civilizations come and gone, a lonely traveler eyes the desert with a wicked grin. “Now is the time master!” he shouts in exultation.

Aerin was prepared for all possibilities as well. He knew the gods would look to safeguard their precious mortals. So Aerin devised a plan, he took his most faithful Necromancers, hid them away from Marabas and the watchful eye of Acrion. They were to work in the shadows, until this day…..

The weary traveler clutches the Necropian Tome. He heads for the edge of the desert, sensing the runes of power. It will be a glorious victory for the House of Aerin, as he sets to work on the mysterious force that binds his master.

Today…the rune’s power is waning; the Dark one is starting to awaken from his slumber… The dead are waking in Marabas. The one thing Aerin and his ilk were not prepared for, Acrion also starts to wake. His power is limited, and as a result he can only send his shade to warn the people of this new era….

The final battle of Marabas is about to commence……

NPC’s:
Acrion’s Shade:
Lookover: A semblance of long forgotten power, you can see through him as if he is a ghost. He was once a majestic being, tall and powerful, now he is only a shade.
Acrion’s Shade: Come forth, greatest heroes! The time for glory is at hand! My brother seeks to escape his prison and threaten your world, you must stop his servant! If not, then all is lost, and all we set to accomplish is for naught! Seek the desert, there you will find answers….

Still a work in progress, I have many ideas of npc’s, mobs, bosses, drops and such…If you have any ideas feel free to post or send me a PM
