Me? Common sense? Good oneSo common sense would tell us that they do indeed see black.

Okay, let me describe it to you in an easier way...No, white should be the absence of all color. Look at it in paints... if you mix a bunch of red, blue, and green paint, you're gonna get black and not white.
White light as we know it, is made out of all the colors of the spectrum. We see different colors because things absorb certain colors of the spectrum and reflect others. Something that looks blue only looks blue because it absorbs everything but the color blue. If something does not absorb any colors, it looks white. Something that absorbs all colors looks black. The best example is sitting in a room that will let no light in at all. What we see is black, not white. So we know that white is actually the mix of all colors, not black.
Try it in an easier way with hex codes. Hex codes are a mix of pairs of numbers and letters, each pair standing for one of the three basic colors, red, green and blue. The maximum hex code value per pair is FF while the minimum is 00. If you set the values for red, green and blue all to a meximum (FFFFFF) you will see white, if you set them all to minimum you will see black (000000).
The reason why it doesn't work with paints:
When you mix paints you mix substances that absorb colors. red paint absorbs anything but red, etc. Mixing all colors together you finally end up with enough substances to absorb any color and reflect none, resulting in black.

Our biology teacher talked about connecting a camera to the optical nerve. He was saying that if the sensors in the eyes were just not working, but all of the connections to the brain were still in place, you could get an image this way. He also said that making a camera that small means that the resolution of it would be really, really poor. So we're waiting on electronics technology before going further with it atm. I thought it was quite interesting though.i do know that there has been research done to use a chip to make blind ppl see. some of the persons the thing was tested on said he could see light spots. if the spots are light then he must see something as dark. but then again maybe he thinks what we see as white is black
