I think my only real problems now are the whole not being able to change the display name and the fact they don't have a quick way for the color beige, I have to memorize the code for it now x.x

meh, it's a fresh start, i just hope people will start to get along etc, and not post useless posts. i like the new forums except for that skin which is just the default skin, inverted. i now have the medieval skin, which i think is so cool, i might install an IPB board on my server just to have this awesome skin.

It doesn't feel like the Nightmist you have always known, that's why it feels alien to you. Alot of people had forum shock on the last change of boards, and it will happen again ^^;;

I like how you can type as fast as you want and it gets it all instead of lagging and missing words. Also the format is much better. The postcount should not be visible on the new forums I already see many people trying to get there count up.

Strange 2 areas of my life, Nightmist and the forum we use at work for staff comments both changed to this "php format" in the same week.

More flexible and yet apparantly strange untill we all adjust and simply get used to it. I am sure it will be very intresting to do this same poll in a months time and compare and contrast.

So nightmisty, yes pre the last re-set felt so nightmisty too!! - untill the improvement came along.

i don't mean to sound boring and stuff, but a forum is a forum. As for skins, no, YaBB never really had any skins. But look what i did with mine, i practically wrote out the whole template for it.

There was a REALLY REALLY REALLY long discussion on some weird forum about the best board, man.. it went on forever. Talked about how YaBB SE left it's forum behind, abandonded it, changed the name and everything to Simple Machines, and then how Supermod Boards or something took the YaBB SE code and made it their own with better features, more stability etc. I guess whether or not the forum is the best, depends on how well you handle forums, how good you are at modding and making the forum look good, and how comfortable you are with using it.

But what more do you need on a forum other to post and read posts? The old forums were so much more simple because the whole template wasn't made up of 1000 images, but as JLH said, it was making files for each individual member etc, therefore became slower and what not.

There are too many forums out there to be able to compare, each with it's own unique advantages and disadvantages. A list of the forum software i've heard of, but some i've not used yet....

I read up on a news post today by SuperMod, and it seems that YaBB SE are lower than i thought. Not only are their developers stuck up and talk to you like crap, they also like to hack other forums. The post can be read Here

just so you know, yabb se is not the same people who made yabb, yabb se creators asked if they could use yabb and convert it to be a database type forum, which they then released.
