I'm a very weak player, and many people will agree, but today, I got a hedge lord kill "Yay for me", and it was in a lvl 24 ranger. Luck? Very, there were like, 20 arches there with me, not always the strongest get everything. And how would you know if there are even secrets? There could be a 1mil square area from a vortex in petes arena, you wouldn't know, it's a secret, you only say they're are no secrets cause you think you know most, but I ganentee you know less than half.

Thats a good point. not always the strongest player gets the drop. So that just proves NM hasnt got anything to do with skill. Its just luck.

It proves he got lucky at HL and nothing else.

See my point? Buns a strong player and he mispelled the monsters name and only knows what its called because I told him about it awhile ago. Good luck finding them all, you'll need hell of a lot of luck to get there.

there's a lot of secrets players dont know about still, like the troll under the bridge south of nightmist, or the non-pk squares in multiple open areas (like the path on way to desert inbetween the forest and caves, most dont even know about areas like the gnome caves or that area underneath of the dying woodland. just because you know where items are doesnt mean you know how to get there, that you can even get to them, or that you know all the secrets.

with a strong monster (e.g. a boss) your chance of getting the kill is roughly proportional to the damage/minuite you are dishing out at the time the boss dies.

so if you hit for half what the arches do (which with a decent weapon seems reasonable) and have half as much stamina then your chance of getting the drop is about a quater of the chance of any particular arch getting it.

so with 20 arches there that leaves a chance of arround one in a hundred. Low but not hugely low.

on the actual subject of secrets not existing i disagree that newbies will find most of the game quickly.

most will probablly start with samuses new site which has very few maps (far less than his old site did)

if their lucky they may find vampires site (mapsor) which shows most of the inter-town routes but not most of the actual towns or various other sites with varying collections of maps but i know i never managed to find for example a good map of sentant (i found one but it had zero monster information, little info on damage traps and missed the route to frostborne completely). Even the sewers maps i've found are far from perfect!

ofc if they search the forum then they will find lots of info but i doubt many do and even then there is a lot to sort through.

btw vampire if your reading this, i have modified versions of your gnoll fortress and southnm maps to fit with my sentant map, would you mind if i released them alongside it?

on the topic of secrets, there's hidey-holes off of trails here and there. weren't meant to be that way but it is. unmapped and perfect for mischief.

Yeah man, secrets been pourin in-game alot recently, newest areas (which may not be that new) Faravar (me and Broc got first drop together recently), Cloud City, I guess people still don't know all of Tirentek yet, and possibly never will, seeing as it's total death on a stick.

Like it was only about a week ago I found out you could actually make Fire Bombs, and that they actually have a proper recipe and everything

And there's an entire new area that is apparently huge and takes up 6 sheets of paper so far and everything I bet Aeryn made it.

And there's that pally area with stuff in there.

And there's probably about a million other things too Guess this is what I get for confining my playing to two (well one really) areas
