How about library entries for monsters like with items and spells?

and i would also (if the idea goes in) like to write them myslef and have JLH put them in if that was ok.

and maybe have some others help too

what do you guys think?

Example:

Library entry for Small Snake:
Small Snake: A snake with small fangs strong enough to rip into skin and inject its venom. Has a larger cousin (The Large Snake) That has the same abilities. Location: Paths. Difficulty: easy.

This is not a bad ideal. It might warn people about monsters that they never faced before espaclly bosses.

Not Supported. I liked walking into the bandit leaders hut with some midlevels and getting smoked.

There is already a small storyline for Zanitos, but there should not be one for every monster in the game, nor every boss for that matter. Mostly not supported, although I would like library storylines for bosses well-known to the Nightmist community, like Zanitos, the Hydra and maybe Aet'Thol and the Demonic General.

I love Crane's idea to be able to have a library on storylines. As seen on the developement forum a lot of people who design areas put a great deal of work into the storylines behind the areas, yet most of that gets mentioned nowhere but in the developement thread.

Being able to library the storyline would give you a rough outline what to expect when you enter the area, but not too much info about the monsters you are about to face.

So no support for the original idea, but support for Crane's alternative.

Sounds cool. If people typed up something appropriate and emailed it to JLH I'm sure he'd consider it

It's hardly appropriate to ask players to write histories for NPCs that staff have created.

None of us, except for the staff member who created the Demonic General, knows who he is/was, what his goals are and why he persists.

Oh I don't know... there are a couple of bosses that I can think of that have quite good documentation about them if you look around a bit. The Hydra and Aet'Thol, to name two... I am sure a player can compose something consistent with the existing data.

As for bosses with little or no information about them, then yes, it would be best for the creator of that monster to write its storyline.

you know crane that aint a bad idea...

i mean i know almost nothing about some of the bosses like blue dragon, aet'thol and spider king...

But i think cranes idea is good, having the staff who created the boss to write the description!

nice thinkin crane

Edit: Crane can write some of the monster descriptions too B)
