Why not build in a small map ingame? not like a huge one over the whole world of nightmist but like 5x5 map that shows the area you are in? I saw this in Revelation and thought it was a pretty good idea. Another suggestion is a chess board in the local pubs for the chess lovers!

Interesting idea, but probably very tricky to create in practice for Nightmist, since it has Up/Down as well as the directions off the compass, not to mention secret areas that the area developers might not want to show up on the map.

been suggested before. got turned down. thought it was because it made exploring useless and then someone suggested that the map only showed squares you visited but forgot why thatgot turned down. and i think exor suiggested a sign at the start of the area which had the map on it but that got turned down too. i don't think jlh wants maps of the areas ingame

Not supported. Would only take away from the game imo. Exploring is such a big part of NM that to take it away by adding maps would only make the game less appealing.
I played RoK for about 3 days and found that the maps made the game to simple. Also because of the way they colored squares to mean diffrent things took away the surprise factor. I like advancing a square and falling into a trap or shadow pit from time to time. Makes me think. I like that most about NM that it makes me think.
