These are just some suggestions that have been floating around for a while, and I thought I'd mention them before a non-staff level 40 crit appears on the scene...

In the past, the double gains used to be the reward for reaching level 30. I would like to suggest something similar for level 40. Note, if higher levels appear (an option that JLH has left on the table when I once suggested changing the level 40 XP requirement to 5 billion), these suggestions will NOT apply to level 41 and higher.

The suggestion: For Berserkers, they get another double gain at level 40, while other classes get a triple gain.

They would truly make the level 40 Legendary and not just ever so slightly better than a Grandmaster Class V. How it would fare in terms of balancing I am not sure though. What do people say?

ADDENDUM: Please fix the typo in the "Lengendary" title!

Level 41? And higher?

I understand what you mean about being rewarded with the level 40 thing, and it seems like a reasonable suggestion really. Maybe though, instead of more hp give them an extra stamina? Or even a different coloured name in the actual realm.. Or a different look-over. Something which made them more unique because the user behind the screen has put a stupid amount of effort into levelling the character in question to level 40.
Disaster ingame.

If crits have more hp it will give you (staff) scope for creating new items/spells etc, without having the "I can round everything" problem.

That does not create anything of the sort, especially once characters actually reach level 40.

The scope for items is limited by the equations realted to armor and monsters. We cant put out equipment with higher armor for certain classes because they've already reach points that we don't want to exceed very much.

Weapons we simply do not want to make ridiculous and let crits deal 200+ damage per stam consistently at all.


These have nothing to do with character HP, and at level 40, an extra gain will not be much of a factor for us, but I do not see the reasoning for giving such a bonus.
I could see some type of bonus, but I don't support making such decisions until more is determined about the new system of leveling.

I can't speak for main, because obviously, it's nopk...

However on 1a the problem will be that thieves will click mages. Zerkers will presumably click anything...

If you give the crits better gains from 37-40 (or even just at level 40 itself) then it will help prevent this from happening.

I mean dammit, why are you waiting for people to get to lvl 40 before you realise that this is a problem - because by then it will be too late to do anything about it...

I don't mean have a go at you Gaddy. I'm aware you don't take responsibility for 1a.

There definitely needs to be some bad ass bonus for Legendary. I like the HP idea. There are a lot of different things we could do, I just can't think of any....

I am pretty sure Gareth's suggestion was for the multi server. Players are no where near level 40 on 1-alt, and Gareth has the highest level characters on Nightmist.

So, my response was for Nightmist, not 1-alt.


On 1-alt, there are a lot of problems that need to be taken into account, and getting more HP on that server would make more sense. It makes sense on 1-alt because the character has to survive with far less company, and a level 40 should be able to defend itself pretty well against most monsters in-game.
It would take more than just extra HP at level 40 for this to work out well though.

yes yes yes!!

remember that the point of 1a is not to be able to solo everything, so you don't want to make it so. but gogogo with the extra gainz from 37-40 quick before tecton gets the guilds in!

edit: suggest x3 gains at 38 and 39, then x4 at 40.

eg on ranger

Level 38: 29 hp.
Level 39: 27 hp.
Level 40: 40 hp.

For 1a, I think x2 to 39 , but x5 at 40 is good, and also

x10 to all other stats that increase by level (damage, hit rate, dodge rate, you know, stuff we never see going up but always is :ph34r:)

That would be nice, and slightly overpriced weapons (2-3m) that are 1 or 2 bd more (nothing magical or any stats mods, so nothing is..rediculous, except...)

Library info for Staff of Sumoa:
Base damage: 35, Can be used by: clerics, druids, fighters, mages, paladins, rangers, thieves, berserkers, Description: Pending Level needed to equip it: 40, Magical: Yes, Vamparic: .45, Armor: 0, Strength modifier: 0, Intelligence modifier: 0, Dexterity modifier: 0, Constitution modifier: 0, Wisdom modifier: 0, Charisma modifier: 0, Poison chance: 0, Poison/30s damage: 0, Monster damage table: , Mana leech: .

50m in a shop somewhere, yes 1a only

And maybe some shiny new craftable pots like 150 healing potions and 200 mana crystal, empty flask + wolf stomach or something not extremely common.


I dunno about main, haven't played for awhile, I guess some slight hp increase?

This suggestion was made before the new stamina levels came out on the multi-alt server. While I would still like to see a nicer HP/MP gain at the final level, the final stamina point gives Legendary more weight.

I think for main server a pretty sweet and rewarding thing would being able to add a permanent stat point to your base stats. Like having the choice to add 1 point to your str, int, dex, con, wis, char....your choice but only adding 1 point to 1 of those stats. I don't see it as being overpowering or over the top on main server since NOPK is on there and an extra stat point would only give advantage for pvp and have players complain about it. Since its basically PvM on main it wouldn't be that bad of a bonus.

During one Christmas quest, a big prize was a permanent stat gain on a crit that got the kill shot on the boss, but the rule was that a stat could not be increased beyond the natural maximum for that crit's race. I would guess that a similar rule would apply here, which could be a problem when a six-stat reaches level 40.

All in all, I would support any extra bonus for becoming Legendary, but it depends if staff support any extra bonuses too.
