Title: New class: Monk
Post by Rafie_Khan on 11/13/03 at 22:34:36
I had memo'd pandelix about this before but now I want to actaully talk about this. My idea is to add the monk class which can be either Human, Halfing, Elf, or Half-Elf

Monks will be strictly unarmed figthers, with a strong faith (able to enter dying wood) but no healing spells.

They will rely on strength, dexterity, constitution, and wisdom

Their wisdom and strength will determine their abilities damage(since monks are usually wise and extensivly trained)
and strength will determine regular attack damage
They will only use hand combat so base damage for their hands will be **8** instead of 1 or 2, they will increase in damage **by every two levels by 1 and have an increase of 2 from lvl 29-30**

Abilities
level 9-Tiger's claw*(an improved damage ability)*
level 15-Ox strength(increase strength by 3)
**level 18-( + base damage of hands by a few points)**
level 25-Crushing Blow(almost like smite but no insta-death)
level 30-Fatal Fury(like berserk/rapidshot)

Stamina - 7,14,19,26,29

Robes shall be their only armor like mages but get a bonus of 3 armor per 10 lvls so a lvl 30 gains a bonus of 9 armor.

This concludes my idea. critisize all you want becuase I would really like to see this class included  ;D.

**The abilities can only be learned in Dojo's and the last one should be in a secret hidden Dojo! may over lap with ox strength and be used with other damage abilities**

**P.S  Deval dont you think if has been posted so many time, it is desperatly wanted?and i went in depth so it gives the makers an insight on what monks may be like I dont know but majority rules ;)**

I think this is a nice idea. But could you explain what the first three abilities do?

Do yourself a favour and use the search function on the term 'monk' for an unending list of suggestions RE this class. For the love of god someone please lock this thread before we have to go through more senseless drivel.

I think charisma should be added to make the the class harder. Charisma, obviously, will determine the amount of healing upon the monk.  now people view this more!

What happens if you *cast* crushing blow upon somone and you do enough damage to kill them.. You say no insta-death but what happens then?

if you attack with crushing blow and do enough damage to kill them but there is no insta-death...........I was thinking of an effect like grasping vines (the druid spell) would take effect, considering the name, if you hit someone hard enough a stun effect will take place. they will be locked in the square and the monk must finsh them off with his up coming stamina replenish. Or add in for PK it can be insta-death if enough damage is caused, but for leveling it is not.

Don't like the idea how about suggestions.

umm.. ok.. many people have already suggested this.. and i was one of the first ones to suggest this on nightmist... so next time you post anything about a class.. type in a search to make sure their is not another one.. if their is... reply to theirs ... there is about 15 suggested topics for monks...

lol.. doing a search for monk topic is probably the right thing to do, but for noobs like me who just starting to play again in the last 2-3 months, revising old topic is kinda nice.  For one very simple reason: It's imposible to read through thousands and thousands of post.  Some of them are even longer than a page (if I remember correctly)...even longer than some of the essay I wrote in my writ101 class lol.

Anyway the point is...I can't read all the all post and noobs like me just gonna have to stick with the new one and hoping for old topic (interesting enough) to be revise.  Might be hard to know what I mean...but oh well.

I'm sorry... but I believe that this will happen... not soon but later it will. Nightmist is always trying to be up to date and the admins are doing the best to keep the game in full attention and fun. They don't do these things for their health they do this stuff for us. You may never know but the Admins. of Nightmist just might be making the Monk class. They like to keep their research on the downlow and they want to surprise us with an 'awe' at their perfection. So you just might be wrong, but if you are not wrong then I am sorry for misunderstanding you.
