Title: Focus
Post by alone on 01/09/04 at 15:54:49
Library info for Scroll of Focus:
Description: When this scroll was created is unknown, but it's believed to have been written by the great Hirrthal and passed onto Tiggy before the great dawn. Although torn, the writing is still intact.,
Type of item: Scroll.
Level: 25
Affect: +4 int
Cost: 20mana
Oh, and dropped by Giant Chameleon as an alternative drop, hense the Tiggy part.

Just the basic idea, kind of the Mages version of Enhance..
Wasn't sure whether to post here or on dev forum.. So please move if needs to be.

I like the general concept with giving mages something to increase their damage. However, it will just become a requirement which every mage will cast prior to fighting.

I would rather see a little more strategy withing fighting. With a greater variety of spells, i.e. in order to cast this spell which would need to bump their damage up massively, they forfeit AoP so their defense is weakened.

Also I would rather see 1 intelligence have a far greater impact on the damage/fizzle/resist that act there on. For example, 1 intelligence would increase maximum damage by 5-10 per attack, and you would fizzle or get resisted less.

This might make the other amulets a little more useful, because as it stands 98% of people with an amulet have either Amulet of Hermes or an Amulet of Lag Protection (Dexterity Modifiers). With 1 int = +5-10 damage, mages might actually use a Cats Eye Amulet and forfeit the dexterity which is vastly more important at the moment.

No other comments on the idea?

I agree with what you said, Eternyte. Int should make more difference, and AoP should be sacrificed also for use of this spell.

nice idea, oh i was just thinking about this so i ll post this spell here cuz i dont wanna start another topic:

Meditation

Mana cost: 50 -100 (idk)
lvl req: 28 +
cost: 10k in shop

When cast it makes your character not able to move/attack/yell/cast spells/use potions maybe even talk idk.. and it regenerates all ur mana to full during 1 min. If someone attacks u or u take any action said above it stops the meditation (so u lose the casting mana cost, taking as u get full mana when meditation is done not every sec). Now u ll say it ll make training easier, not really its lvl 28+ so not much more training there will be, it takes one min so its just easier to refresh at bar (and now when u need food/water all the time u cant 'live' in one place somewhere in desert), u d say but it costs 100 gp at bar, yes but during a min ur mage on lvl 28+ can get easly 500 gp from training. Just a thought.

A mana regen skill that takes mana to use? An interesting idea...

Don't think people would really use it then, if thats the case. Make it so it uses all stamina or something instead, then it would still have a penalty and still be useful.

I don't know why I didn't post before. I like the idea. Very much so.

As for Snowy's, I like that as well, but there's something that doesn't seem right about it. I can't put my finger on it right now.
