More than likely, their wis works against you, in the opposite way it works against you on a normal crit?
Try making two Pacifist, one with really low wis and char, and one with high wis n char.. And see if im right.. If you can be bothered

Probebly cause they have high wis and usualy high wis defends against magic so there for it probably defends more damage if you get what i mean
