Title: Dagger of the winds
Post by Despair on 07/02/03 at 04:45:49
Are these actually any good . . .

I know most people will say buy one and find out . . . but 350k is a lil hefty for trying something out . . .

I know they are the best possible weapon from levels 25-28 but after that, how does the .2 Vamparic compair to the extra 7 base damage u get when using a dagger of shadows

Any respose will be appreciated

-Jimmy

they're pretty decent for training purposes. i used one for awhile but when i got the theif to 28 i used the dagger of spirits because saving a little on pots wasn't as important to me as shaving time down on training. so from 25-27 they're worth owning and after that you can just sell it and you won't wind up losing much.

Careful, i had one on my 28 thief and someone told staff that i was auto training and they took his exp away...one of the reasons being he had a vamparic weapon on him so it was alittle "obvious"

Doesn't suprise me that it would be you. After all, you have no friends so why not ruin it for everyone else?

Ouch, your comments go straight to my heart and tear me apart, everynight i try to sleep i just start crying cause i cant take this anymore....... .... ::)

Uhm im not even going to justify the "you have no friends" comment cause thats just stupid and a waste of my time.

About that theif yeh it was mine and ofcourse i get blamed for auto training...after all it is me epic and dont i get the shaft end of everything?  Anyhow i ended up selling that thief for a good ammount of gold so its all good  ;D

Yes, it might go straight to your heart IF I WAS TALKING TO YOU! Why else do you think i quoted -=ToM=-? Mabye because I was talking to him? Sheesh... looks like you've already 'wasted your time'.

ya at first i thought you were attacking epic and was like...wow thats kind of dumb...but then realized you were replying to the quote of tom saying he "grassed him up" meaning i think he turned him in for auto training, but in response to Jimmy, DotW owns in my opinion, i need to get another couple once i've got some more thieves to bother using them with (the ones we were training are arch now) but once a couple of others we've got hit lvl 25 they're getting them and probs. keeping them til 30 so i can hit the spiders with my cleric to get him some training also w/o much of a chance of having my thieves get screwed and dying (would still have to heal but not nearly as much)

Back to the question: Is Dagger of the Winds worth it ?

For training and exploring, yes. Most definitely. Two thieves with DotW, I can go out in the wilderness far from towns and not have to worry about bringing loads of pots or food and bring back a good amount of cash. I've paid for my two daggers 3 fold in not using any healing pots.

For pking, moshes and battling crit armies - no.

Despair, I have 7 Dotw's and will continue getting them.  In my opinion, they are far greater than any other weapon if you use your thieves to train and gather gold.  I myself don't waste alot of time on fighting other players so as far as the extra damage caused by a Dagger of spirits, the vampiric ability of the other is much better for my purposes.  I vote for the Dagger of the winds.  I have used the Dagger of Spririts as well as an Emerald Dagger, they do hit harder of course.  The amount of gold saved on pots and so forth such as being able to train without a cleric nearby are well worth it to me. I think that by using these weapons, they have well paid for themselves over and over.  If you decide you wish to get rid of yours after you try it out, let me know, am always willing to grab a few more of them.

Good day to you,
Amy of Draco

How do you auto train?

Auto training was prevented along time ago, basicly it was said people would jam a macro button, like /a orc  Then just sit in the arena and leave the crit there, using a DoTW would keep the crit healed too. Now it kicks you if you hold the macro too long.
