How about some kind of mana tap ability?
You cast, you fall into a trance for X amount of time, regaining mana at an increased rate (possibly 5 per second for 30 seconds). your dex is dropped to 0, armor is halved and all enhancing spells are negated, therefore making you more susceptible to damage for X*1.5 amount of time.
It would need to have these harsh costs to justify not paying any mana/hp.
Can only cast again after dex returns to normal.

This'd make it ridiculas for Pacifists who do alot of work in the museum.. It's easy to clear a grid in there for a short while, while you get mana back...
Otherwise it'd be a good idea.. Maybe for Mages?
