8 is amazing for a win95/98,me machine, machines generally start to run out of resources at about 5. well, it was 5 when i last checked a long time ago, maybe the client is more efficient since then and doesn't use so many resources. note, no known limit for win2k/nt/xp

I run win98 on my own comp (which I miss lots), and I try not to log on more than 3 crits. With 3, I have virtually no lag. 4 works too, but lagging slightly, 5 on a good day. I tried 6 and 7 before, but if I do that, I have a hard time moving around and usually lose 3 or 4 crits while running through the sewers.

i got winxp(256MB ram) and i can run maybe 4 without lag... granted i have a 128k connection in New Zealand, but still... i think the most ive ever had on winxp was 26, and that was like  with the lag, back on topic... i think the most i could ever have on win98 was 2, that was when i was on 56k... the lag then was also very .. lolz

I've never tested the most i could run..but today when i had those 18 up i also was downloading 3 songs on grokster (grokster alone being opened on windows 98 is killer to it..same on xp, that nuts lags stuff up) and had up aim and some stuff....and nm site...ya..windows xp is the shiznit.
