I think it's because it takes forever to get the deal done. Sellers, unless in severe need of gold, tend to wait a while to see if there isn't a better offer coming in, and buyers usually want to get the item as soon as possible, so they prefer to look at the for sale page first.

I know that much, The point was (I know I didn't explain it) Why do we still have this section when it doesn't get used? Obviously no-one cares much for it.

doesn't harm anything by having it there.
and if i removed it, you'd all beg for it, so it stays

can'\t you edit it a bit? to make it more like ebay?

like max times an auction can be up there and stuff like that?

i don't see the need really, sellars can end it when they like, it can't really be set with an end time, because if it autoended, and no-one had the gold to get the auctioned item, then it would go to a much lower bidder, therefore the sellar has a command to check who would actually get the item and for how much before they decide to end it.

Ok, then why dont you, and/or one or more of your fellow staffers make this section a bit more interesting? Such as maybe once every so often you get together and decide on some type of "special item" (doesn't need to be a dexie, but possibly a "one of a kind item") and auction it off.

It's sad to see what was once a well used section just sit in the gutter wasting away.

Hehe, maybe someone will sneak some cheap sgs on there * looks around

Never know when someone might feel generous and will put sg's up for like... starting bid of 500gold. Then end the auction after a few bids lol.

well if u did it like e-bay then the player could set a price and that price would have to be matched by a bidder or the item dosn't sall I belive they call it a reserve thus giving the player a minimum amount they know they will get if it sales and if it don't the player keeps the item

so why not put it like

instead of   /auction halberd/50000

where it starts at 50k

set it up like
/auction halberd/50000/res/100000

means it starts on auction page for 50k and if there auto end and it doesnt make the 100k reserve then item doesnt sell

just a though

Why not make it take the gold from the bidder's bank until the user has been outbid like on the Bounty List, that way an auto-end to the auction could be put in.
