Armor on monsters

Im just wondering what theire armor would be, theire fur? Cuz that would stop a arrow.  Or are they secretelly wearing a spiked set?
Edit: Just so it wont be moved, i think its kinda weird (that being my comment and all)

first of all, Why in the heck would you stab a bear with a toothpick Its not hard to stab or shoot an arrow into an animal, its just hard to take them down(if they are a bear of coarse) but the animal that has armor has to be The Giant Alligator. That is a animal with armor my friend

Alligators don't 'protect' their young. If an alligator happened upon her young, she'd probably eat them!
