This spell should be reduced from 25 mana to 5. Why? Because:

  • Rangers only have to use 1 stamina point to hypno you.
  • It has no lasting effects, so if you cleanse yourself, the hypno can simply be cast again.
  • Heal uses 4 mana (or 5) and Aid uses 7 (Divine 8) Why so steep with Cleanse?
  • Beam uses 17 mana and is a hell of a lot more useful than cleanse.

I'm sure i can think of more, but that should be sufficient.

Poison damage... Even if a healer with cleanse was poisoned by an Hydra Thorn, that does 30 poison damage, and healed for 20, he would spend the 25 mana healing himself 5 times.

And only Hydra Thorn does that much damage.

in support of editing cleanse, monsters will always use poison (on 'someone') as soon as you cleanse it.  Having it last 5 to 15 sec. to prevent poison (and whatever else is involved) isn't unreasonable.

Good idea Cyric, but still mana cost should be reduced.

I think to make Cleanse worth the mana, it chould (as Cyric said) have a lasting effect (20 sec or whatever) and should heal for 20 hp; otherwise, it is a huge waste of mana.

Just reading through the cleric update again and i found out that divine restoration casts cleanse aswell. Divine only uses 8 mana ... cleanse 25. Sure, its a strong spell, but if it is healing and cleansing, surely it should cost more mana than cleanse, right?

Note: strongly agree with lasting effect.

Heh, if you've been to chronos Island, you would think other wise about the mana cost...
I had level 30 fighter around 300 hp, got poison and died in a few secs..

But i do think cleanse should be lowered..
Also, I think cleanse being cast with divine should be taken out.

1 Reason. Say future areas have poison around, well if divine heals and cleanses also then basically don't even put poison there doesn't really effect anything when most people heal with divine..

2 Reason. Not in at the moment but say poison was interduced in as a way to fight.. Say you hit someone and u do dmg and poison as well, they(if smart or if your weak) will most likely cast divine to heal themselves.

That clearly just makes poison unusefull..

IMO the way poison works should be changed... it should be rarer but more powerful. For example snakes always seem to poison you before attacking normally, the poison only does one damage, and it dosnt even last long enough to floor an initiate mage.
They should only have a 1/5ish chance of attacking you with poison, but the poison should hit for 5 for a small snake and 15 for a big'un.
