I don't know about clan duel seeing as I am not the whole clan...but when i get bored in game a fun thing to do is sit 1 south of nm and hit anyone that i want to. I think if you guys do that with your crits and somebody from the enemy clan hits you it can start a big fight..and not a puss fight where no one has to care because there is no exp loss.
Just get on some of you mains, don't complain too much about the hit and runs cause you know you do them yourself, or have in the past (or i did once upon a time..and at pete's a couple times for jollys).
The hit and run people shouldn't kill your crits anyway if you're sitting there with spells and a cleric. If they do you'd better be lagging, get unlucky, they've got around 5 thieves, or something. It really isnt that hard to heal for hit and runs if you aren't using 8 crits guys.
