Title: udp-style command dropping for a tcp game
Post by nacitar on 02/11/04 at 17:19:31
heh, it gets bloody annoying to have commands that are sent dropped.  if i type e e e e n, i dont care how laggy the server is it should do EVERY movement i tell it to do.... not drop a few of them and get me lost because of it.   dropping commands is not cool... why did you do this, or why does it behave this way?

this is not by design, but instead happens because if the server is experiencing lag, it can't retransmit the tcp packet within a certain time, and so the packet is dropped. the only solution to lag at peak time is to put another internet line, which is something that is not yet feasible as the peak time lag occurs very rarely.
