If you have a problem check it isn't listed below first:

Q) I press Connect/Create Account and it says Connecting... endlessly, or says Cannot Connect to Server.

A) The most common cause is that your connection to the internet is blocked. First of all, make sure you can browse the internet in your default internet browser (like internet explorer). If this works, try selecting Alternate Port from the menu in Nightmist, and try again.
Still no luck? If you can browse the internet you're definately connected okay, so check you're not running some sort of Firewall. If you have a program such as Zone Alarm or Norton Firewall you may need to set it to allow nightmist to access the internet.
If you are running Windows XP, then you should check if the default firewall is turned on and configured correctly by following these instructions (http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/pro/using/howto/networking/icf.asp).
If no firewall is running, check to see if you are on a network or using a router. Occasionally this can interfere with connecting to Nightmist, especially on corporate or educational networks such as schools and offices.
Finally, if none of the above work, then it is possible the server is temporarily down. Usually the website's forum goes down when the server goes down, so this is a good check, but it does not always happen.

Q) I can connect okay, but after the account screen comes up and I select a character to play, the computer just sits there.

A) This is usually caused when your computer does not have one or more components installed. The easiest thing to do is to download the full setup of nightmist again and reinstall. Make sure when you reinstall to close all programs that are running in the background because these occasionally interfere.
