Title: ok i need a lil help iinstalling Post by Alterno on 07/30/03 at 08:07:41 ok when i try and install nightmist they say An error occoured while trying to replace this file: File Access Denied Abort Retry Ignore the name of the file is Olepro32.dll the file is in C:\WINNT\System32\Olepro32.dll I run a Win2000 Professional edition ne ways can u guys lemme know wats up wit it or ne other info u need thx ok there is n other problem i have n other file tht cant be accessed stdole2.tlb i cant access night mist if i give ignore :'( |

Title: Re: ok i need a lil help iinstalling Post by Jurian on 07/30/03 at 08:44:20 you could play before right? but if you allready have the file it should work i think :D. it's not a really important file (maybe for the game it is but not for yourcomp) think it was a propperty support file but i didn't pay that much atention during dll and system file info class :D but you could download winTask and c if any other programs are using that file. |

Title: Re: ok i need a lil help iinstalling Post by Jurian on 07/30/03 at 11:18:21 hmm not sure did somer eading and it looks like the files you need to install are needed for teh vb6 runtimes. what i personally would try is to make a backup of the two files your not allowed to overwrite and then try to delete them (prolly won't work) and then reinstall nm. or try to install the vb runtimes yourself and then install nm again. edit: found it on the microsoft site :d http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=bf9a24f9-b5c5-48f4-8edd-cdf2d29a79d5&DisplayLang=en get that and install that then install nm again :D |

Title: Re: ok i need a lil help iinstalling Post by JLH on 07/31/03 at 17:32:01 close as many other programs as you can, note the ones in the bottom right of the taskbar, some of those can be turned off temporarily (a reboot will bring them back) then you may be able to install nightmist. |

Title: Re: ok i need a lil help iinstalling Post by James on 08/01/03 at 02:01:55 you might also want to try a controll alt del and close all programs runing under your log in name I'm not shure exsactly what it looks like on earler nt platforms but the one they got now when crtl alt del is pressed windows task manager pops up and u can see applications, Processes if u click on processes u can see every last program runing wether its in the system try or not, and under user name you should see what even name u loged on windows with like mine says James Close all the one's with ur windows log in name u should be able to highlight it and click end process if that don't work you can right click and chose end process tree, but don't close explorer.exe and system or systray .exe other then that u can lose all other apps runing under ur user name don't close any system or loacl services or network services if you do you won't damage ur computer but it will make u shut down and reboot no big loss but u can give that a try |

If you can't don't go near it! Alot of dll files pick up trojans and other stuff that might mean you can't delete it because its 'in use' but the bit you want to delete is hidden is registry. I use "Spy-Bot" to clear my files, its an amazing piece of software. I use McAfee and Black Ice and its mind-boggling what still gets through, but I run Spy-bot a couple of times a week to clear out the crap. Don't get a free Trojan Remover 'cas in my experience they will corrupt your system more. Hugh |
