Title: Experience Bar Percentage Post by Magnus on 02/11/04 at 22:58:50 just a thought... maybe a percent could be added above the experience bar or in the middle of the bar to show what percent of exp you have so far and goes back to 0% every level obviously (or if you went that extra 5% over the red, then 5% or however much) could be convenient when someone asks how much exp you have and would also be useful in the trading forum. post comments here! |

Title: Re: Experience Bar Percentage Post by Everlast on 02/11/04 at 23:43:49 I think it'd be kind of cool..as long as it went by whole percents or to the tenths....i woudlnt want it to change all the time, just when it actually semi-makes sense to. |

Title: Re: Experience Bar Percentage Post by alone on 02/12/04 at 00:17:55 Why not work out the % yourself? Work out what 1% is of your level, then each time you get x exp, you'll know you're another % near to your goal... |

Title: Re: Experience Bar Percentage Post by Magnus on 02/12/04 at 00:22:15 smurf that.. if i wanted to take 15 minutes to find out the percentage i wouldn't have made this post. it would be MUCH easier to just have a visual percentage with the bar. (i dont know how hard it would be to code it but it doesn't seem like it would be that hard but i have no clue.) |

I didn't say I'd do it, geez no! All I do is work out my average exp gain for an area. Working in 10minute stretches for an hour. Then based on the average exp gain, work out how long it'll take, time wise, to reach my next level. |

Title: Re: Experience Bar Percentage Post by Vengence on 02/12/04 at 00:24:43 lol, it would still be much easier to see visual %s. Remember the lazy ppl :-/ (aka me) |

Title: Re: Experience Bar Percentage Post by alone on 02/12/04 at 00:32:02 I can see people saying: I'm 50% with the idea. - What's the % chance JLH will like the idea?.. Ah well, looks like I'm fighting a losing battle against lazy people :P Just kidding.. But I am about 75% sure you'll win this one. |

Title: Re: Experience Bar Percentage Post by sayadin on 02/12/04 at 17:53:29 You could do that or right above it have where it states how much Experience you have left in order to lvl. but percentage will work great. |

Title: Re: Experience Bar Percentage Post by Silverwizard on 02/12/04 at 18:19:05 I like the idea, I can figure out how much exp I need and also do sometimes if I have a need but what is the point just because it is possible does not mean that there is a point when I agree the game can do it. Hmm the game already knows how much exp you have and how much you need so all you would have to do is simply add an percentage calculator and then print the result next to your exp. There is my coding knowledge of the however long until my next gem of knowledge comes out. |

Title: Re: Experience Bar Percentage Post by Drown on 02/12/04 at 19:08:45 or maybe add a command /exp% Your experience percent is: klfdjfkjdsfdjk |

Title: Re: Experience Bar Percentage Post by sayadin on 02/12/04 at 20:23:19 true but i would like to see how much percentage of exp i'm gaining per hit... and i really don't like to keep on typing a code just to see it... if they can put a bar to show where your exp is at then it shouldn't be a promblem to put up a percentage. |

Title: Re: Experience Bar Percentage Post by CPG on 02/12/04 at 21:14:46 It takes less than a minute to find out the % of xp you have. Here, i'll do an example of a lvl 29 crit that has 213,243,771 xp. 250,000,000 - 180,000,000 = 70,000,000 250,000,000 - 213,243,771 = 36,756,229 36,756,229 / 70,000,000 = .525 .525 * 100 = 52.5 The crit has 52.5% of the xp it needs to get to lvl 30. Ok, it took me a minute and a half. Shame on me. Doesn't Nightmist even have a calculator in it now? /calc right? |
||
|
Title: Re: Experience Bar Percentage Post by alone on 02/12/04 at 21:18:34 Yeap, and whoever thought of the idea for /calc was pure genious (go me). See, as CPG has shown. It's easy.. And repeat it, with minor changes, to see what % you get per hit. |

Title: Re: Experience Bar Percentage Post by Magnus on 02/12/04 at 21:40:29 If the people supporting this idea actually wanted to work out the exp percent we would do it. It's not that we don't know how... it's that we don't want to calc it out every time you want to see what % exp you have.. thats just dumb and that's why I started this post in the first place - to have a visual and easy resource to see my exp %. |

Title: Re: Experience Bar Percentage Post by CPG on 02/12/04 at 22:20:20 Well, you can just estimate by looking at the experience bar. |

Title: Re: Experience Bar Percentage Post by Jurian on 02/13/04 at 09:11:53 just wondering but what's the use of say'n i'm on 50% of my next lvl? wouldn't say'n "i need 25 million more exp" be more obvious on how much exp you need? why do you need a percentage when you can get an exact number? maybe i missed something when reading the posts (most of it was about lazy ppl) but i'd rather know the exp i still need for next lvl then a percentage. (as you all know my program calculates the amount of exp you need for next lvl allready :P) |

Title: Re: Experience Bar Percentage Post by JLH on 02/13/04 at 14:07:43 1) at the minute it just says your current xp. 2) i could make it say "xp/maxxp", where maxxp is the xp of the next level. 3) or "xp %xp", where %xp is the percentage of xp that you have compared to the amount needed for the next level. eg for a level 1, "150 75%" (i think 200 is the amount for next level). 4) or everything and have "150/200 75%" 5) or everything and have "75% 150/200" which do you prefer, assuming it fits? (whatever it is, i'd make it toggle off/on on the client so that it does not affect skins that make use of the fact that the experience label is quite small) |

Title: Re: Experience Bar Percentage Post by Vengence on 02/13/04 at 14:51:25 I like 4 or 5, but 5 the most. |

Title: Re: Experience Bar Percentage Post by alone on 02/13/04 at 15:43:34 Poor sweet JLH.. It's 800 exp for level 2. And yeah five sounds best. |

Title: Re: Experience Bar Percentage Post by Magnus on 02/13/04 at 15:57:06 Yeah, I like 4 & 5 - preferably 4, but 5 is just as good. |
